For me, technology is a 19th century experience (riding the train, using the phone, playing vinyl records on a turntable), so going online for dating is a shock like discovering the world is NOT flat. I'd much prefer cards of introduction. Anyway here goes, a list of nouns, adjectives and verbs which give an impression of me: intelligent, queer, Wonder Women, cute, 80's music, Roland Barthes, museums, banter, paintings by Marsden Hartley, photos by George Platt Lynes and Diane Arbus, family, sailors, trashy TV, holding hands, Maker's Mark, tchotchkes, collecting, Emile Zola, silly, flea markets, witty, AB FAB (old but still brilliant), east village, creative, artifice (not artificial), showing affection, Green Irish Tweed, The Golden Girls (I'm a Blanche-Dorothy hybrid), big black shoes, sometimes difficult, your sexy calves (male not bovine), shy, taking a nap, parentheses, giving a boy flowers, sex with someone who turns me on physically as well as mentally and emotionally, a cup of coffee at 3:30pm...boys who are not afraid of love and commitment and like a bear without all the silly "bear stuff'.
What I’m doing with my life
I used to be a part-time Mary Poppins for my goddaughter which was the best 3 1/2 years of my life. I still see her every week. I have an antique personal shopping service where I source antiques to buy and sell. I also work for an antiques appraiser as a research assistant. I just received my appraisal certificate at NYU & am continuing along the path to become a certified antique appraiser specializing in silver and English ceramics and possibly continental furniture. I also have a blog www.thegreatwithin.org
where I write about art, film, photography, desire, nostalgia, antiques...but I have not been able to devote as much time to it lately as I would like. If you want to know what makes me tick, read my blog or check out my blog "Antique Desire" on my business website-www.theantiqueflaneur.com
I’m really good at
Learning and research, laughing, design, style, seriously good at
kissing, entertaining (I set a mean, fabulous and beautiful table)
and since I'm overeducated lots of interesting but archaic facts
about random things...Chinese Export porcelain or French late 18th
century furniture anyone?

The six things I could never do without
my friends & family especially my goddaughter
antiques especially antique silver
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future and the past. I can be terribly nostalgic.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually hanging out after a long week, but also like to meet
friends for a drink or dinner or a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a past and I can be quite nostalgic. And no I didn't spend my 20's in a Thai prison. I'm a bear & a top though I don't go in for all that bear culture stuff; I never like to be part of the herd.
You should message me if
If you are a good guy who is cute, sexy, smart, and is ultimately
looking for the long haul. You have unpacked your baggage,
catalogued it, discarded some items, refurbished others and ended
up with a smaller bag then when you started. I'm still working on
mine as well; but just being aware of one's luggage and striving
for a smaller bag are the important things.
Also, you don't need to impress me with what you do, who you know
or what you wear (well a jumpsuit would be a stretch), just hold my
attention with your intelligence, honesty, compassion and
Also message me if you enjoy witty banter...
