I am enjoying my job and am happy to be taking a break from the
college chaos. I enjoy
drinking,
singing, and playing music. I am a
semi-serious guitarist and am always trying to learn more about it
and spend lots of time jamming with friends. I am a terrible
pianist and really have no interest in learning more about it,
which means I might never be allowed to teach music in a
professional setting because all they ever want is people who love
classical and fuckin' Bach-y Mozart-y bullshit. Maybe I would be
good at giving guitar lessons though. I have an extensive
vocabulary and am a voracious reader. I really like to spend a lot
of time online, but still like to go out and watch films and eat
dinners at
restaurants occasionally, or go sing
karaoke like a
jackass in some local bar, or forget about the karaoke and go to
the bar anyway and just get incredibly tanked.
Paying off my student loans very slowly, working for a
telecommunications company, living alone in an apartment, and
drinking like a fish. Learning to cook, and trying to cook
healthier foods. I also like to ride my bicycle around a lot. I was
a commuter during college and am totally sick of constantly driving
everywhere when I could just walk there or ride my bike. I also
spent way too much on gasoline and consider the past eight years to
be the worst time in American history to have been a college
student. It feels like kind of a mistake. The way I did things
worked out pretty well, but I should have made some better
decisions. At least I'm not still living in a car. I guess that's
doing better. I'm also always looking for new STL friends on
Twitter!!! Read my
tweets and be my friend: http://twitter.com/rockkevinrock
Playing the
guitar
and singing, making people laugh, turning people on, throwing a
fuckin' pawty!!! Making pizza dough from scratch. Going for really
long walks or bike rides, I can go all day.
I guess people seem to notice my sense of stylishness. I like
interesting clothes and shoes and t-shirts with funny things on
them. A new BFF recently told me that I seem like a really geeky
sort of guy, but with a bit of a "rocker" side to my personality. I
wear
glasses and
have really
curly
hair so I usually straighten it out or keep it cut really
short.. I have several
piercings although I don't always wear
the jewelry (just trying to look more professional at work), people
always notice those. When I'm on stage doing karaoke or practicing
music with my band the first thing people notice about me is that
I'm very confident and comfortable with my voice and enjoy singing
for people and have a lot of fun with it. I've always been into
screaming and yelling and lately have been trying to practice
growling and grunting so I can do more of a death-metal sort of
thing.
Fiction: (Nick Hornby, Tolkien, Brian Lumley, Stephen King, Anne
Rice, Clive Barker, Arthur Clarke, Isaac Asimov, JK Rowling, Harlan
Ellison, Ray Bradbury, Poul Anderson, Robert A Heinlein, Roald
Dahl, HP Lovecraft, Ambrose Bierce, Ian Fleming, HG Wells, Kerouac,
Ginsberg, Burroughs, Colin Wilson, Norman Mailer, Chuck Palahniuk,
Bret Easton Ellis, etc.). I guess you can tell I like sci-fi and
horror and beatniks and surrealism and dramatic sorts of themes.
Non-fiction? I read a lot of that too. I read a BUNCH of different
webcomics during
my breaks at work, just ask and I'll be happy to tell you which
ones. Music: pretty much anything, rock, metal, pop, punk, country,
reggae, classical, hippies, folkies, songwriters, 80's, girl bands,
performance art, electronica, radio stations, file-sharing, mp3s,
etc. Movies: horror, comedy, action, sci-fi, westerns, vampires,
werewolves, zombies, classics, but yeah sometimes I watch the
tearjerker sort of movies and I cry like a little emo!!! Food: I
love Asian, Italian, Burgers, BBQ, coffee & espresso, tea,
juice, water, etc.
Aside from the basic survival sort of things, I like to have some
sort of entertainment going on around me at all times (that would
be music or films). Also enjoy good food, tasty drinks, having a
job, having money, and having sex (although I've been really
lacking in that department for quite some time, anybody wanna help
me out with that?). Yeah, that's six.
Actually I think a lot about what I'm going to do after I finally
finish paying off these damn student loans. I've really got nothing
tying me down so I might just get up and walk around the whole
world. Sell everything that doesn't fit into a backpack and just
hit the open road. But I do love St Louis, I grew up around here, I
just sometimes think I'm going to catch the travel bug and start
exploring and getting curious. Go on some adventures. I might try
to go back to school eventually, if I want to keep going in my
current profession I might have to get a degree in communications
or some sort of technical thing or engineering or something. I
sometimes think I could make a good music teacher if I just tried
hard enough. Or a guitar tech or studio recording engineering or
record production (I like to tinker with parts and modifications
and sound design and computer recordings and microphones and
synthesizers).
I have been too reclusive lately, although I do go out on weekend
nights a lot. I haven't stayed in touch with old friends and really
ought to get back to that. I ought to go spend some time in my
hometown because since I moved to the city I haven't gone back and
there might be people who would be surprised to see me. Usually I'm
trying to find new places to hang out here in the city. In the
summers sometimes I go biking down the Katy Trail and spend time
camping.
I sometimes do "80's girl songs" when I'm out doing karaoke, and my
friends say it's the most ridiculous thing they've ever seen.
Do you like music? Do you want to go out on a date? Do you want to
hit the trails and ride bikes with me? Are you looking for someone
to have some fun with? Do you like to party?!? Do you need a
drinking buddy? If you answered yes to any of these questions then
by all means please feel free to contact me.
