I am romantic, funny, and musical.

My Self-Summary

I have a BA in psychology from Miami University (that's the one in Ohio, not Florida). I live with my 1 y/o Whippet puppy named Eppie and enjoy lounging around (when I'm not walking the dog), good movies, just about all music styles, and cooking. When the opportunity presents itself, I enjoy playing piano and steel drums. I'm a generally funny person and love to laugh and make others laugh. I'm fairly laid back, perfectly content to just kick my feet up and watch a good movie or to go out and see a show or get a beer. My guilty pleasure would be going to see musicals and the Cincinnati Symphony. I LOVE to travel and have been to England, Guadalajara, Madrid, Toledo (Spain, not Ohio, though I've been there too), and Israel, and have swam in the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, and the Dead Sea.

Music and people, those are the two things that really drive me in life.

"Visitors" (as OKC would now have me call you), if you look at my profile and see something you like, don't be shy, message me. If there's one thing I love, it's talking to and meeting new people.

There are men amongst you who believe in love, who believe that a real connection with another human being is a sacred thing, something to hold onto for dear life. These men will hold doors open for you and push your chair in for you at a restaurant. These men believe what they see in the movies, take the quote from Moulin Rouge to heart ("love is like oxygen, love is a many-splendored thing, etc."), and are proud to show you off to their buddies that you're their girlfriend.

These are the men who'll adorn their work space with pictures of you, who feel lost if you go more than a few days without seeing or talking to each other, who see a kiss on TV or in a movie and actually feel you on their lips, who absolutely love spooning with you and waking up next to you. These are the men that, for whatever reason, turn to OKC as a serious avenue to find women who will appreciate their qualities and get frustrated when they make a good-faith effort to message you and wait a week for you to write back before realizing you never will. These men aren't always the "hey babe, come here often?" in a bar type and, at least online, only be able to muster a "hey, i like your profile, want to grab coffee some time?" but were you to ever take them up on their offer you'd see that they have so much to offer. These are the men who seek to prove that chivalry is NOT dead.

My name is Stephen, and I am such a man.

What I’m doing with my life

For 45 hours a week, I sit back in a comfy leather chair, wearing a headset, and talk to customers about firearms and ammunition that they'd like to buy (aka sales). Yes, I sell guns and ammo, I also own guns and ammo and use them responsibly and safely. If you think guns are evil, before you judge, ask me about it. I promise I'll be polite and open-minded. Better yet, ask me to take you to the range.

I’m really good at

Playing steel drums (steel pan), cooking (in my mind at least...), making people laugh, being a shoulder to cry on, figuring people out, listening, wearing a bowler hat, giving tattoo advice.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm Jewish (I keep my head covered at all times but I'm more spiritual than religious--I also have tattoos and eat bacon so like I said I'm not terribly religious), or my eyes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Angels & Demons, anything Stephen King, poetry by Pablo Neruda, The Chronicles of Narnia

Movies: Donnie Darko, American Beauty, The Truman Show, The Shawshank Redemption, Hearts in Atlantis, Pleasantville, The Nightmare Before Christmas, RENT, Star Wars, Sideways, The Thomas Crown Affair, A Prairie Home Companion, Almost Famous, V for Vendetta, Taken, El Laberinto del Fauno, Boondock Saints, Big Lebowski

Music: Dave Matthews Band, Something Corporate, Ben Folds, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, MU Steel Band, RENT, The Phantom of the Opera, Meatloaf, Beethoven, Morten Lauridsen, Eric Whitacre...really my itunes goes from Beethoven to Nirvana and just about everything in between,

Food: Bacon, Italian (anything with garlic, really), dry red wine, steak, chicken, BBQ, American, Mexican, bacon (so good I had to say it twice)...I definitely DO NOT like seafood

TV: Scrubs, West Wing, Law & Order, Top Chef

The six things I could never do without

Internet/email
Something with which to cook
Cell phone
My puppy
Music
A sidearm and plenty of ammo

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Since most of my time is spent at work, I really do wonder what my customers are like. Of course I stop caring once I hang up. Sometimes I wonder what I want to be when I grow up. That's not to say that I'm not focused or goal-oriented, but sometimes the best things in life are those you didn't plan for.

On a typical Friday night I am

Watching TV with my pup, maybe grabbing a bite with my brother or getting a beer with my frat Brothers and friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm pretty much an open book. Ask and I'll answer.

You should message me if

If you read my self summary and either a) can appreciate someone like that; b) are at least willing to give me a try and see how things go; or c) want to chat, speak up.

I'd like to meet a down-to-Earth, attractive girl who likes (or at least tolerates) dogs, perhaps a hint of a wild side, someone who's just fine doing whatever, whether that's going bowling, traveling, or sitting at home watching TV. I like it when a girl takes a first step (no, I'm not just saying that to avoid writing you first) so if you see something you like, want to get coffee (cliche, but it works) go for a walk, or even have a question, ask away.

If I message you and I'm not your type/you want me to buzz off, please be considerate and write back saying as much. I can take whatever you have to dish out, but hearing "you're not my type" is better than sitting around for a week wondering if you'll write back. Thanks.
