My self-summary
Alors, il y a un lapin de garenne, et d'habitude, il était...wait, I think they want to know about my other self.. Ok, I'm a NeuroSophist, a onetime-Taoist, a lover of conversation, extremely easy going but love an intense conversation. Often blissful, never sad, very happy with life and easily blissed out by a nice conversation, a painting, a bit of wind on my face, or a bit of good chocolate. I'm a fan of Gorgias, but also of Pynchon, neither of whom faire du ski, non? The last movie I enjoyed was Romantics Anonymous, a cute light little french film, but I love serious films and TV too (Almodóvar and Kieslowski are favorites -- I've seen all of their films -- also, the genius Ozu...oh my...), Star Trek and The Good Wife, Doc Martin and the IT Crowd...

I am optimiste, grundehrlich, and absurde, and I like conversation and intimacy and being alone and chatting superficially and introspection and sharing perspectives and learning about another person superficially, deeply, concretely, abstractly, emotionally, and intellectually...and humorously (pun intended). I'm a romantic pragmatist, not particularly ambitious (I was when I was young, but stepped off the fast track to enjoy life more fully) but serious about love and friendship and my work.

I'm an extrovert by day, an introvert after work (defying librarian stereotypes! Yes, I'm a librarian, with a pony tail instead of a bun), extremely open both in a superficial chat and in a deep conversation. Love to listen, love to talk. A seven hour conversation is pretty much the very best thing I can think of doing, but I also love a 2 minute superficial chat when I'm in extrovert mode, and also love the day-long conversation that takes place in bits of talking, bits of silence, doing something, eating something, walking, doing some housework together, sharing affection here and there, etc. etc. as the day winds its way around me and a friend.

Also LOVE to see movies and talk about them, as well as talk about books and ideas and emotions and art. A walk through a museum or some time with a book club or a sauntering chocolate-buying visit to my favorite purveyors of good chocolate in SF or a walk around the farmer's market is a good time for me.
What I’m doing with my life
Cultiver notre jardin.
I’m really good at
L'absurdité.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have little hair. And little sense of the appropriate, except, of course, the neurosophistically appropriate.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Green curry. Gravity's Rainbow. Moby Dick. Ozu's Tokyo Stories. The Station Agent. War and Peace. Anna Karenina. Almodovar's Talk to Her, All About My Mother, and Volver. Being There. Candide. Kieslowski's Blue, White, Red. Danny Kaye. The Good Wife. Star Trek. Huff. Noodles. Pizza. Any Indian food. St. Elsewhere. Any Thai food. Any Italian Food. Chocolate...oh yes...any Gianduja...Pralus Barre Infernale Lait ou Noire...Patric In-NIB-itable, Rogue Silvestre, Fruition's Rustic Crunch...
The six things I could never do without
JayK+. Emotional intimacy. Written Language. Spoken Language. Recurrent solipsisms. L'absurdité.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
noodles and curry, and sometimes nous, techne, and sophos, as well as the feel of the wind in my hair and the beauty of a smile and the perfection of an intimate conversation.
On a typical Friday night I am
Talking with JayK+ about noodles, curry, and nous (francais and hellenike). Watching a film. Reading something complex. Smiling at some cute absurdity or another that flits my way.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I had a daughter who was reincarnated.
