My self-summary
I am decent at lucid dreaming, and quite interested in quantum physics (particularly how it relates to consciousness). I have a degree in Psychology and work in a pathology laboratory making slides from bits of humans. In kindergarten I was "selectively mute." It didn't get much better from there until my 20's. I'm not nearly as shy now, but still definitely introverted. I love being around people, and then I love getting the heck away from everyone for a while and being by myself.

I live with my boyfriend ("life partner"), and I also have another, more casual, boyfriend who lives a few cities away (consensual all around, of course). Thus, my priority on this site is not to find new romance, but to find some more cool local friends of any gender or sexual orientation. Although, I do admit I miss having a girlfriend! So, you know, any like-minded women feel free to take note. I'm easy going and passionate all at the same time!

By the way, geeks are sexy. It's just a fact!

I attend a Unitarian Universalist church now - damn, I wish I had grown up UU. Those kids get to have the best Sunday School and retreats ever. Oh, to be able to proclaim "I took Sex Ed. at church!" I'm not highly religious and I'm basically agnostic/atheist, but I do have a strong spiritual side and I love the whole UU culture. Young Adult Cons rock hardcore and I'm sad that I'm almost too old to attend them.

I can't wait to travel more. I spent two weeks by myself in Budapest in 2007 and I want to go everywhere everywhere everywhere. Particularly Africa, India, more Eastern European countries, and Australia. Money is the biggest limiting factor at the moment, but that should be better within a year or two.

I don't feel grown up. I don't think I ever will (and I'll be very disappointed in myself if I do).

I'm not a girlie girl by any means. I don't wear make up, I don't style my hair, and I don't shave (but I don't really "need" to - very sparse hair. you can't tell that I don't shave my legs even by feel).

I am curious, detail-oriented, and compassionate

What I’m doing with my life
Making slides in a pathology lab, going to school to become a certified Histotechnician, attending concerts, practicing mindfulness meditation. I plan on learning violin after I graduate in May 2010. I was thwarted in my musical pursuits at age 11 because my mom couldn't afford to rent me an instrument. Now I shall remedy that. I also plan on taking a self-defense or martial arts class.

I’m really good at
Becoming all ecstatic and full of love for everyone and everything for no particular reason (even while sober!). Noticing details. Hugging. Procrastinating. Seeing both sides of an argument or issue. Dressing up as a zombie for Halloween (see photos!).

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
a. Tom Robbins, Rob Breszny, Jeff Noon, Ray Bradbury. I read more non-fiction these days.

b. Heavenly Creatures, Clockwork Orange, The Last Supper, Little Otik, Super Size Me. I can't stand slasher films or torture scenes.

c. Andrew Bird, Cloud Cult, the Decemberists, No-Fi Soul Rebellion, King Missile, Cake, Ben Folds, Lonely Forest, Placebo, Tenacious D, the Shins, Barenaked Ladies, Idiot Pilot, Go Slowpoke, the Pogues, the Church, Pulp, the Wonder Stuff, That Petrol Emotion, Jonathan Coulton, Manic Street Preachers, They Might Be Giants, Radiohead, XTC, dada, Belle and Sebastian, Dar Williams.

d. I like to cook lasagne, stroganoff, spaghetti, enchiladas, gigantic salads, and whatever I feel like throwing together from my fridge and cupboards (jazz cooking FTW!). I'm not big on sweets, but dark chocolate is wonderful. I'm an omnivore who enjoys a good vegetarian meal often.

x. Hooray for Derren Brown, Morgan Spurlock, Jon Stewart, and Eugene Mirman.

I may have a mild obsession with Andrew Bird and Eugene Mirman, I want to eat them both up NOM!, but only because they make me feel and/or laugh.

The six things I could never do without
Laughter, dreams (the sleeping kind), learning new things, my cats, live music, books, privacy, meditation, good friends. I'm not going to make some silly inference that I'm so rebellious because I chose more than six things. These are what came to mind as important to me at this particular time. I could physically live without each and every one of them, but I wouldn't necessarily feel alive.

On a typical Friday night I am
At work until midnight, then playing around online or watching TV, occasionally going out with friends. Evening work schedules kinda suck.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I had open-heart surgery when I was 30 to correct a heart defect that no one knew I had until I started having symptoms in 2004. Five months later I was on the operating table. My heart is mostly normal now, but it's a good barometer for the general state of my body - if I don't get enough sleep, eat too much fatty food, or am getting sick, I'll start having palpitations.

But the most fun part is that I'm eventually going to get a tattoo of hands clawing their way out of my chest through my scar. Any artists out there care to design it for me?
