My Self-Summary
I was married in my late 20s, but we divorced after a few years. Fortunately (unfortunately?) we didn't have any children. All my friends say that I need to find another "good woman", settle down and raise a family. That doesn't mean that I've had a wild social life, but they're right. I've been looking for a long time and I know that she's out there. She just needs to find me. :)
Tall...intelligent...and of course can recite most of The Pet Shop from Episode 10.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm finding that the busier I get the more I feel that something is missing. The missing part is clearly a family. Success isn't as much fun when you don't have anyone to succeed for.
I’m really good at
Programming. Yes, I admit it: I'm a real "old fashioned" programmer. There aren't very many of us left these days. Most of the new breed simply change things that others have written. And yes, I did start my career writing device drivers in assembler back in the early 70s. That statement is probably meaningless to most people. If you don't understand what a programmer is, just imagine an artist that works with symbols and commands instead of clay or paint.
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Music? Anything you can dance to. Big band and rock -- back when they were actually singing and the songs had lyrics that meant something.
Books? I don't read much these days, but I've read a lot over the years. Everything from Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke and Tolkien to Agatha Christie, Alexander Dumar, Victor Appleton and Ayn Rand. And of course just about every OZ book ever written.
Movies? I've got a rather eclectic taste for movies, from Citizen Kane and Sunset Boulevard to the Adams Family (the first one, the sequel stunk). Dozens of others, too numerous to mention. A movie has to have a plot for me to like it. The plot doesn't have to be fantastic if the acting is. Arsenic and Old Lace is a perfect example: a plot that could be told in a ten page short story but some of the best comedic work ever done.
Of course if I'd listed everything here then there would be no need to ask about common interests, eh? :)
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Ugh. I think I need a life! ballroom dancing
No, I don't really think about logic problems. I just hate writing these things! :)
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You should message me if
Do you love to ballroom dance or have you been amazed by it all your life but have just been afraid to get out on the floor? Country dancers, polka dancers and contra dancers need not apply unless you're ready to see the light and convert!
Of course if none of the above apply and you just like my profile then drop me a line. I'm almost always here, even if I'm not. (Yes, I work at home)
