I'm someone who's interested in many things, and I always love to learn about something new. I'm intelligent (relatively), funny (hopefully) and hopelessly charming (of course). I'm broad-minded and not closed off to alternate worldviews, ideas, thoughts. I'm an atheist, but have no interest on pushing my (lack of) religion on anyone. I'm fluent in French and can speak conversational German and Japanese.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm pursuing a career in music, primarily working as a choral
conductor. Which is fun. I work in all kinds of music, from pop to
jazz, I'm no snob when it comes to music (I just love it
But who knows where I'll end up? Not me, because I'm no psychic.
Are you? If you are, good for you!
I’m really good at
Well, music comes to mind. But aside from that...I'm good at making
people laugh, and making delicious food. I'm a solid listener, but
I can also keep a conversation going. And I'm excellent at lawn
bowling, so there's that (please, don't send in all your messages
at once, I know how sexy lawn bowling is).
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a funny walk, perhaps most accurately described as "jaunty".
I sort of bounce when I walk, and it's apparently quite noticeable.
So, there's that, I guess!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love various pop culture things and doodads, and try to keep up
with the latest in awesome TV. I love The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad
Men, Breaking Bad, Community, Parks and Recreation, Archer, 30
Rock...and I'm going to stop now because this list is making me
look like I don't do anything but watch TV
My favorite bands/musicians are The Beatles, Tom Waits, The Who,
Cee-Lo Green, Leonard Cohen, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu, Bird and
the Bee, Metric, Rihanna, Beck, Lily Allen, Janelle Monae, Gretchen
Parlato, Feist, etc. etc. But really, I'll give anything a
My favorite books would have to be the Song of Ice and Fire series
by George RR Martin, House of the Spirits, Hitchhiker's Guide to
the Galaxy series, The Stranger, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, A
Universal History of Infamy, Naked Lunch, The Electric Kool-Aid
Acid Test...and a bunch more.
Favorite foods? Pizza is delicious, obviously. I make a mean
risotto, so that's right up there. I love Thai food, Vietnamese
food, Japanese food, Italian food, Persian food, German
food...wait, it's possible I just like food. I am not a picky
eater, to say the least.
The six things I could never do without
1. Music. Definitely music.
2. Food. Specifically good food.
3. My friends. They're great, and they bring me so much happiness
in my life.
4. My family. Goes without saying, no?
5. Entertainment. Books, TV, movies...I'm a sucker for all these
6. Beer. Not in an "I'm an alcoholic way", more in an "It's
delicious, seriously" kind of way.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to write on these surveys? Nah. I spend a lot of time thinking
about music and the arts, because that's my job. But I also think
about politics and society matters, and when I'm feeling less
serious, adorable kittens. Because we should all spend more time
thinking about adorable kittens.
On a typical Friday night I am
It really depends. I could be out having a good time with friends,
have a quiet night in with my roommates, or working away on a
project or recording session.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can move the entire top of my head, like wiggling my ears but
it's the entire top of my head. This is a pretty big secret, you
should feel glad I let you in on it.
You should message me if
I don't seem totally boring to you, and you want to chat! We'll go
