My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"Taken out of context, I must seem so strange..."

Well, not entirely, but I can certainly relate. Do you know who said it?

I'm a relatively normal guy; a bit dry or sarcastic sometimes, genuine, and overall a good person. I'm caring and tend to be outgoing, and I'm a proponent of being honest and up front.

My real passion is spending time with interesting people and doing cool/new things - conveniently my friends fit this bill! I also tend to strike up random conversations with even more random people - it's an interesting world out there.

In no particular order: I love spending time outside (beaches, patios, hiking), bowling, drinking good beer, shooting pool, dancing, cooking, singing karaoke at the top of my lungs, etc. I love learning, laughing, exploring, being clever.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm living it, and having fun!

I have an awesome job with a cool tech company that I totally love, and have recently (April '14) moved to Austin from San Francisco and am totally stoked about it; this is an amazing city!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people smile/laugh!

Bowling, drinking beer, listening, cooking...

Puns. I like to be punny.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm usually smiling/laughing/having a good time... And I'm told I have a rather cute nose.

I can be a little shy at first (though those that know me might not believe this), but once I'm past that people usually like me and tell me I'm fun.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love movies, but I think there are still a lot of classics I've missed. I get sucked into the story/adventure easily and can enjoy most movies, even if I wouldn't consider them 'good'. Movies I would watch again (and again) would be The Hangover, Super Troopers, The Princess Bride (best ever), Potter series, LOTR, I am Sam, Pay it Forward, The Usual Suspects, American Beauty, Stranger than Fiction, Harold and Maude, Boondock Saints...

I like all types of music, and am usually listening to whichever radio station comes in best. Some of my favorites are/have been Secondhand Serenade, Buck Cherry, Sublime, James Taylor, They Might Be Giants, Katy Perry, GNR, All American Rejects, Panic! at the Disco, Beastie Boys, 311, Tim McGraw, Tori Amos, Ani Difranco, NIN, Norah Jones, Jim Croce, Jack Johnson, Radiohead, Cake, Prince, Bob Dylan... You get the idea :)

I'm not much of a regular TV person; I don't dislike the TV, but if there's something better going on that's where I'll be. While I can easily lose a Sunday afternoon on Trashy TV, I don't watch habitually. What you'll generally find on my DVR are Food TV stuff like Chopped, Game of Thrones, Californication, Dexter, Big Bang Theory... I once lost half a day when I first discovered Rock of Love - largely due to being hung over and having great company. I thought it was simultaneously the best and worst thing I'd ever seen, though I don't have the patience for it any longer (unless someone is willing to yank that bandanna-wig off of Brett). I'll also occasionally watch a Red Sox game, or popular sporting event, but I would really rather be there or actually be playing. No, I will not watch Jersey Shore with you.

I started this claiming that I hadn't read an actual *good* book in a while, but enjoy the mindless suspense/thrillers ala James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, etc. Scratch that, I've been talking about making a big list of "must-reads" and going through all the one's I've missed and I'm kind of starting that - just got through The Great Gatsby and To Kill a Mockingbird, books I loved that will probably end up on my all-time top ten. I recently read and enjoyed Ishmael, which was really interesting, and some David Sedaris. Some of my all-time favorite writers are Ayn Rand, Richard Bach, Douglas Adams, Herman Hesse, and Chuck Klosterman (Sex, Drugs, and Coco Puffs!).

And Food! I'm open minded about most foods and will try most anything once. I love sushi, and Indian or Thai food - I am a huge fan of spicy food. Also, nothing can beat a good bar/pub burger when you're hung over. And noodles, I love me a good noodle shop. I've given up carbs, so this means I'm finding new ways to enjoy some classics, and spending more time with bacon, which is not a bad thing :)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
It seems everyone is making this distinction now, so I will as well. There have been times in my life where I've found I can live without most things, but the nature of this question isn't really about that. These things make my life so much better and more full, that I would not want to have to live without them:

My Friends and Family
Mobile Phone/Internet
The beach/water
A fun job
Good food/beer/wine :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What condition my condition is in.

Spending my Powerball winnings. No, I didn't win powerball, but sometimes I'll buy a ticket just so I can daydream about what it would be like to have (seemingly) endless resources, to be able to spend more time learning, having fun, traveling. Maybe I'll start a company devoted to caring for and rehabilitating Pit Bulls, or economic development... Circumnavigate the world on a sailboat... Spend a couple months in different countries to work a little and learn the language and culture. That sort of stuff :)

Wanderlust, traveling the world. Packing up a backpack and just going wherever...

When my desire to be productive and ambitious and my inability to do so for extended periods of time will conflict again...
