My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I like to spend my spare time electronically. My hobbies of choice are video games and movies, and I often indulge both simultaneously. I’ve recently been playing FFXIV, and it’s super fun. I haven’t enjoyed an MMO like that since…ever. It’s just great! Really, any kind of game is awesome, as long as there’s a good story, good gameplay or good company. :)

I got to visit Japan for a month a couple years back, and it was amazing (despite not knowing the language). The juxtaposition of nature and urban sprawl was beautiful. I definitely want to go back, and take some time to hop over to South Korea for a while, as well.

I am divorced. It doesn’t define who I am, but it matters to some, so I like to give people that information.

Also, INFJ, for what it's worth.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I’m a software developer at an international printing company. It’s freakin’ cool, man. I enjoy coding, and I get to work from home whenever I want. It’s pretty awesome.

I’m currently trying to learn Japanese. I think I could probably converse with a 3 year old, but I’d totally have that toddler beat on kanji (I know like 20 or 30). Japanese culture is fascinating, and I’d love to be able to watch animé without subtitles. ;)

I also took up running recently. I started a couple months ago unable to finish running a mile, and have worked up to a 28:15 5K (on a treadmill). I’m aiming for an 8:00 mile pace for a whole 5K, and I’m going to start running actual races soon. Gotta get fit!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cats. And dogs. Really, animals in general tend to like me. Your pets are guaranteed to like me.

Singing off-key.

I’ve been told that I’m good with kids. I don’t know why – it just comes naturally. I do want kids someday, so it’s probably a good thing that I’m good with them!

I can also make a mean water-drip sound with my mouth.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My dashing smile. Actually no – my glasses. My smile is a bit crooked, actually – a trait I inherited from my dad. Don’t worry – it’s a charming crooked.

Also, I tend to be really sanguine in demeanor. The glass is half full and stuff. It’ll always be better in the end – if it’s not better, then it’s not the end. That sort of thing. It means that I tend to be optimistic about most things.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Water, air, blah blah blah sarcasm...

The internet (and a computer to use it)
Art - specifically movies and video games, but also TV, music and books/comics
A creative outlet
A place to learn
Delicious, delicious Smashburger

That's enough, I think.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Science. Physics. Faster than light travel and quantum teleportation. Gravity lensing and quantum entanglement. The relative nature of the universe. The fact that something does not exist until it is forced to do so by a measurement. That shit amazes me. I almost double majored into physics in college. I still enjoy reading about it. It’s so fascinating.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Michio Kaku, Brian Greene – I will watch anything these people do.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I like to watch movies and play games. Sometimes that’s cuddling up on the couch, and sometimes that going to see Guardians of the Galaxy then going bowling or to the driving range. I’m not into the dive bar scene, but I enjoy a good chill bar. The Hala Kahiki Lounge in River Grove is pretty awesome, especially after some Gene’s & Jude’s just down the street.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I drink “girly” drinks exclusively. Well, also liquor. The point is that I like sweet things, and I don’t care what others think about it.

Also, I have the eyelashes that you spent all that money and time trying to replicate. It’s okay – you can be jealous. :)

You disagree that Asuka is the best Eva pilot. Or if you agree, really, because no one ever does, and it’d be nice to find some common ground on that particular subject.

You have a favorite RPG. Mine is Final Fantasy VI. It…kind of defined my childhood and helped shape my beliefs.

You can tell me who Kintaro Oe is without looking it up. Or Hironobu Sakaguchi. The two are unrelated.
