My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Warning, I'm very inactive here at the moment. I might not log in again for a few months at least, but if you don't mind waiting that long for an answer, by all means message me anyway.

I'm a bearded and bespectacled man who, among other things, enjoys staying up late, sleeping in, good food (eating and cooking), reading a book, thinking, weather changes, music (making and listening), tea, coffee, beer, snuff (tobacco, not movies) and interacting with thinking people. Spring is my favourite season. After that it's a tie between fall and winter. Winter wins if it's a proper winter, with snow that doesn't melt after one day or ice that's thick and black.

I have a daughter (primary school age) living with me 50%. Don't tell me I didn't warn you...

I can be quite shy, so if I looked at your profile but didn't send you a message, chances are you're so awe-inspiring I lost my nerve. Give me a few days to regain my composure or send me a message yourself.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
One of my main goals in life is being able to support myself and my loved ones doing something interesting but with as few consequences for peoples real lives as possible. I've come to the conclusion that this would probably have to be something academic, but exactly what remains to be seen... While I plan for this I teach music, study a bit, raise my kid and whatnot.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Stating things in a way that make them seem like established facts when they are really little more than conjecture.

Making up passable food from what I (or someone else) happen to have at home.

When I have a hangover I can usually sing a Gb in the contra octave.

Making apple pie.

Faking actual skill on a number of musical instruments.

I can sleep through almost any disturbance and almost anywhere. I'm like Sleeping Beauty (only not as beautiful).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
...is probably that I'm at least five minutes late.

Also, I sometimes sing a bit more prominently than socially accepted while walking down the street.

I don't know about you, but I never actually read all the reeeeally long lists I find under this heading on other profiles. So, I'm trying a new thing here. (Updated 2013-07-29)

–The last book I enjoyed reading:
Liedman, S., Tännsjö, T. & Westerståhl, D. (eds.) (2008). Den svårfångade relativismen: en uppslagsbok. Stockholm: Thales.

–The last movie/tv-show I enjoyed watching:
Easy A (2010). I have a soft spot for high school movies and musical numbers.

–Most played piece of music (according to iTunes):
Dvořák: Symphony #7 In D Minor, Op. 70 - 1. Allegro Maestroso, played by London Philharmonic Orchestra.

–Last time I cooked something and was really pleased with the result i made:
I improvised some kind of veggie lasagna tonight, where every other layer was pre-grilled zucchini instead of pasta. It turned out really well.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
If I already have the bare necessities: An interesting book, a musical instrument capable of producing more than four notes simultaneously, tea-making utensils (including tea), somewhere to hide from the world, writing utensils, my glasses.

No, friends and family aren't things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Among other things:

If the subdominant and its parallel really exists.

Why Achilles will overtake the tortoise.

If you can think the same thoughts as someone else without having access to the same words and/or concepts.

How people eating in public (e.g. on the tram) vividly illustrates our ape ancestry.

How to get that annoying tune out of my head.

Is there a common denominator between all things we call "music"?

How to get into a PhD-program without selling my soul to the postmodernists, and how to finance it.

If I should work as a mailman instead.

What the relationship between intuition and reasoning is.

What time it is (and what time is).

What causes that sense of having forgotten something really important.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
awake
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a huge fan of Gilmore Girls
