I am funny, clever, and random.
My Self-Summary
Hi, I'm Chris. I just moved back to
Santa Barbara after almost 5 years
living down in Ventura. I'm from the O.C. originally.
I have a very unique sense of humor and frequently comment on
everything that goes on around me. I can rarely watch a movie or TV
show without riffing on it. I find
humor in almost everything around me, the
bad and the good.
I'm an
animal
lover. In college I worked for 4 years at a pet store AND a dog
groomer. Now I only have one cat (darn small place!) but someday
hope to have a menagerie again.
I am pretty musical. I used to
sing all the time (semi-pro) and still sing
karoke and to guitar hero!
I'm honest (sometimes to a fault). Some people really love this,
others can't handle it. But I don't criticize and get along with
most people.
I LOVE to
travel.
I've been to Hong Kong, Thailand, Laos, Sweden, Denmark, Jamaica,
the Caymans, and Mexico. Really hoping to visit Japan, Scotland (my
ancestor's homeland), and Slovenia, Slovakia, and Czech Republic.
(I've heard good things about Eastern Europe)
Random stuff about me:
I can tango, fox trot, rumba, and waltz.
I go to the gym 3-4 times a week
I eat yogurt every day (I love yogurt)
I always find something interesting to talk about
I build small robots as a hobby
I used to be a league bowler
When I was a teenager my parents sent me to Outward Bound and so I
have all these freaky Chuck Norris like outdoor survival skills
What I’m doing with my life
I'm the IT Director and Head Programmer for a small-to-medium sized
business out in Goleta. I like the flexability it offers me
I want to own my own business (again), but am far to good at
pointing out flaws in various business models and killing off my
own enthusiasm. It's going to happen. I sit up nights working on
the perfect business idea.
I’m really good at
coding, computers, cooking (LOVE to cook and cooking for other
people - I don't care who you are, if I HATE you I'll cook you a
good meal just because I know you'll enjoy it), making other people
laugh, and thinking random thoughts.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile. I'm always smiling!
My energy level. I'm a pretty high-energy person.
Someone once asked me why I DON'T drink coffee and I said "because
I'd explode."
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like mystery, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, etc books as well as
poetry (Paradise Lost is one of my faves and I'm utterly
non-religious). I have my nose in a book at least an hour a
day.
I love Arrested Development, Twin peaks, Melrose place, Simpsons,
BSG, Curb Your Enthusiasm, G4 (I'm a geek), and Dirty jobs!
I love modern and alternative rock, especially 90's stuff and 80's
music, how can you not like 80's music? I also love 60's stuff (my
mom was a certified woodstock attending hippy)
I love any sort of food. Thai, chinese, sushi, mexican, italian,
etc. I'll eat anything. I've had some strange food in thailand and
hong kong and I just ate it down.
The six things I could never do without
the internet & computer (how did people work before
these?),
my well-used cast iron fry pan,
my cat,
being able to travel,
people to talk too,
my singing voice
I spend a lot of time thinking about
things I want to do but don't have time for: like joining a chorale
society, or hiking the cascade mountains, or going back to
Thailand, or travelling to England (I'm an anglophile), or going to
Japan, or building some website business, or making my own video
game (omg do I have a billion video game ideas) or thinking about
complicated physics theories.
On a typical Friday night I am
wandering around Santa Barbara somewhere, in a book shop, or cafe
or even staying at home
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I was married before. And happily. Until she turned to crime to
make extra money, and committed several counts of felony fraud.
That kind of was, umm, not good for our marriage.
