I would describe myself as a nerd. I try to read as much as I can
in my free time, though sometimes that’s easier said than done.
Often my desire to read gets interrupted by movies, video games, or
nerding it up with friends and playing Dungeons and Dragons. I’m
fairly laid back about things and try not to get stressed out too
much. My sense of humor can be someone macabre. I’m not religious
and politically I’m more of a libertarian. I'm pretty open minded
about most topics, with the exception of the second amendment, of
which I am a firm supporter.
I’m working full time while paying for classes at Georgia
Perimeter. My major is
chemistry and I plan to transfer to
Georgia Tech and finish up my education there. Ultimately I plan to
get a job researching something, possibly new fuels or
nanotechnology. Or become a stereotypical mad scientist. Just
kidding about that part. Maybe.
I’d like to think I’m good at finding humor at inappropriate times,
solving scientific problems (mostly chemistry), and making things
work. I also hope that I’m proficient enough in weapons to survive
a zombie outbreak. I also am good at laughing throughout horror
movies and making those around me uncomfortable.
I often have a full beard that most people seem to notice. I also
seem to have some aura of chemical knowhow that I cannot explain.
My favorite authors include
Stephen King,
H.P. Lovecraft,
Ayn Rand,Stephen
Hawking, George Orwell, Richard Preston, Michael Chrichton, and
R.A. Salvatore
Some of my favorite books by said authors include: The Stand, The
Dark Tower Series, Cell, Anthem, Atlas Shrugged, A Brief History of
Time, 1984, The Hot Zone,
The Zombie Survival
Guide, and The Andromeda Strain
Some of my favorite TV shows are: That's Impossible, Dollhouse,
Sanctuary, Fringe, Modern Marvels, Mythbusters, Daily Show, Colbert
Report. Family Guy, South Park, Futurama, Clerks the Animated
Series (I know only six episodes), The Elegant Universe, Clash of
the Gods, The Big Bang Theory, True Blood, Dexter, Penn and Teller
Bullshit!, The Office, Dilbert, Heroes. It seems like a lot, but I
don’t watch it that often, primarily because most of my TV viewing
is done online with Hulu and more recently on Netflix.
Some internet based media I enjoy are the web comics: xkcd,
Ctrl+alt+del, Questionable Content, Sinfest, and Saturday Morning
Breakfast Cereal. I enjoy the web based shows Dr. Horrible’s Sing
Along Blog, The Guild, and Pure Pwnage.
My taste in movies is rather varied to include Fight Club, V for
Vendetta, Sweeney Todd, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Silence of the
Lambs/Hannibal/Red Dragon, Star Wars Saga, The Matrix, most cheesy
horror movies, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Star Trek, 300,
Watchmen, A Clockwork Orange, Battle Royale, Boondock Saints, Pink
Floyd’s The Wall, Zombieland, Clerks, Dogma, Mall Rats, Jay and
Silent Bob Strike Back.
My musical tastes include classical, classic rock, metal, techno,
musical soundtracks, and probably most things that aren’t country
or rap. Favorites include: Bach, Beethoven, Basshunter, The
Beatles, Black Sabbath, Disturbed, The Doors, Dragonforce,
Godsmack, Iron Maiden, Korn, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Mozart, Pink
Floyd, The Prodigy, Queen, Rammstein, Slayer, Tchaikovsky, Tool,
Weird Al Yankavich, ZZ Top.
I enjoy a large variety of food, sometimes even attempting to cook
myself. Cooking is like chemistry except you usually can eat the
products. I enjoy Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, and most
other things. Nothing beats a nice juicy steak though. If you are
vegetarian that’s fine, just don’t try to convert me. My sister has
been a vegetarian for years and has failed to rid me of my
carnivorous ways.

Most of the day at work I’m listening to music while I think about
random things. Sometimes I will be contemplating science and
technology and how it may influence humanity in the near future and
where I will fit in it. I think about games I'm playing or want to
play. Included in this are character ideas for my table top role
playing games. Other times I will think about politics and the
direction our country is going. I also spend a great deal of time
thinking about what I would do in a zombie apocalypse. I've also
been putting serious consideration into brewing my own beer/wine as
well as making my own ammunition. The Large Hadron Collider and
what we will learn when its fully operational (also a really small
part of me wants to see if it will destroy the world even though
this possibility is almost zero).
On a Friday night I’m usually relaxing and either reading, playing
video games, having a couple drinks with friends while playing DnD,
maybe out at the movies. I do enjoy getting out and trying new
things, it may however take some time to loosen up and step away
from the wall in social gatherings.
I enjoy live theater, I was in drama in high school and it’s
something that has never left me. I enjoy musicals, but I do not
sing. I also enjoy trying to cook, usually successful in such
endeavors. In addition I used to play World of Warcraft
