I am idiosyncratic, compassionate, and unusual.

My Self-Summary

Seriously iconoclastic, allergic to convention, and downright down on dogma. Creative and intellectual independence most highly prized, and very much the way I've structured my life. To wit: I've been in New Mexico for about 18 years, mostly in the Abiquiu area, where I now own a large and beautiful piece of land. Lately I've also had a place in Santa Fe, and divide my time between town and country with deliriously happy results. I'm self-employed (strategy consulting) and think and do what I want when and where I want, for the most part.

What I’m doing with my life

Former musician, film and video maker, Hollywood feature film production executive, and graphic designer, now happily ensconced on my mesa contemplating what's important and working as a strategic planner and autodidactic polymath. Foreign travel is tops, and happens once or twice a year. Photography has become a captivating creative focus lately. I'll send you pictures from Mexico if asked.

I’m really good at

Figuring things out and knowing when not to.

The first things people usually notice about me

Actually, people don't usually notice me. And I like that. When they do, it's generally my odd sense of humor, often my eccentricity, but sometimes my intellect.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Goedel, Escher, Bach. The Man Who Fell to Earth. Kind of Blue. Mu Du Noodles.

Against the Day (Pynchon). Leaving Las Vegas. Beethoven Late Quartets. Pad Thai.

And Then We Came to the End. Shattered Dreams. Is That All Right? Indian food.

White Noise. 4 months 3 weeks and 2 days. Youssou N'Dour. Home fries at greasy spoons.

The six things I could never do without

Independence. My land. Friends. Wild animals. Wilderness. Music.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Lately, Jimi Hendrix. And John McCain's erratic behavior. The ridiculous improbability of our existence on this small rock orbiting a star in a vast void. And the equally improbable society of formerly independent micro-organisms that now live quite happily as micro-organelles within each and every one of our cells...

On a typical Friday night I am

At an art opening, then at a film (usually CCA or The Screen), followed by dinner and music at the Cowgirl.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Was all that not enough?
