Hi! I'm an English teacher residing in the Taipei area. I'm typically considered an overseas Chinese because of the 20+some years that I spent growing up abroad. Despite a predominately western education, I'm also in touch with my Chinese roots as well, and would consider myself to be fluently bilingual.

My story in a nutshell would be that I'm a son of a diplomat for the ministry of foreign affairs, so as one could imagine, I have a very nomadic upbringing. Growing up in many different countries gave me a richer perspective and worldly knowledge. But obtaining that has its price too. The drawback of being a foreign affairs brat is that you grow up with an ambivalent sense of cultural identity. I appreciate people who can relate to this. I find small town girls who never flown on an airplane or traveled outside of their home country to be... ignorantly blissful. I find it harder to relate to people like that.

-How to play and master this game of financial prosperity, then retire early to try out a new kind of lifestyle... like how to pursue an alternative lifestyle living off the grid, not like a hermit or misanthrope, but like with a small group of friends and/or significant other.
