I am not describing, myself, and in three words.

My Self-Summary

The short description: I have a nerd job, jock hobbies, listen to hipster music, and try to be random.

Whenever I am not working, I do pretend to have a life. I like a good beer and enjoy hanging out with friends in bars, occasionally playing pool. I started college studying music, so I enjoy pretending that I still know anything about music (Jazz is what I studied) when I really just listen to 89.3 The Current from Minneapolis to prevent me from having to learn hard things, like band names.

I'm in a bowling league where I am banned from keeping score... That should be somehow relevant. I enjoy watching sports (mostly college, I am a Gopher until I die). College hockey, baseball and international soccer being the three I care the most about.

What I’m doing with my life

I am a grad student in mathematics studying biophysics. Basically, I do math that allows people to study proteins better.

I’m really good at

Well, math... obviously. I'm also a pretty good cook when you can get me out of my lazy habits.

The first things people usually notice about me

Depends on whether my mouth is open or closed.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books... I remember what it's like to read something other than textbooks, I think. More seriously: Douglas Hofsteder, Noam Chomsky, Dostoevsky, Hannah Arendt, Al Franken, some number of biographies

Movies: I'm usually too lazy to find out what movies are playing, but I get a kick out movies about mathematicians (Good Will Hunting, Proof) and stoner flicks (Harold and Kumar and Pineapple Express come to mind), and I enjoy historical biopics.

Music: I just listen to 89.3 The Current. Though, I occasionally pull out my old Jazz albums (not LPs, sadly).

TV: Chuck, House, Scrubs and The Office are good

Food: I am pretty open food-wise. Ethiopian food is a particular favorite of mine. I really can't think of a style of food that I honestly dislike.

The six things I could never do without

Books, naps, friends, beer, maybe whiskey, a good problem to work on

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Beer. Science. Politics/Law. Sports. In that order. My brain has no room for anything else.

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends in some bar somewhere drinking a good beer.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Once, I got really angry at my mom's dog (damn thing ate my tacos!) and rounded up all of his toys and put them out of reach on a table.
