I am eccentric, eclectic, and ebullient.

My Self-Summary

I worry/stress about important things.
I have a passion for music and other arts.
I basically work two jobs, one being a boring 'ole day job and the other being fun exciting music job, but when music stops being fun, I take a break.
I know how to knit (kind of) and cook and so I'm not hung up on gender roles.
I don't believe in God, but I don't disbelieve in God. The closest I have come to a philosophy is existentialism, but there are some tenets of postmodernism that I find very appealing. While I am dealing with controversial topics, Texas should not secede from the union (that would be bad), global warming is happening, even if it still seems cold in the winter, and a government-run health care program is not socialism and neither is a government-run postal service. Surrealism in art was a fun period. Lots of naked people.

I'm looking for an artsy, quirky, eclectic/eccentric girl, who has an appreciation for normal and non-normal fun activities.

What I’m doing with my life

I am
Working in an office,
Playing music in bars, clubs, and concert halls,
Reading fiction, plays, and books about music,
Writing classical/jazz music,
Recording an album of weird music,
Improvising,
Making espresso,
Trying new things,
and
Making old things new.

I’m really good at

drinking coffee (and also making coffee/espresso), playing quiet music, dancing, and buying presents for people (not always, some people are difficult to buy for, but I think I generally have a winning average)

The first things people usually notice about me

the goatee? the glasses? my stylish earth-toned clothes?

I like to imagine that I have a comical way of walking, but I'm told I actually have a comical way of running, which isn't quite as amusing to me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Food :: Good food (it's more important whom you're eating with than what you're eating)

Books :: House of Leaves, Cloud Atlas (Mitchell), Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates (Robbins), The Book of Invisibility (Auster), Slaughterhouse Five/Breakfast of Champions (Vonnegut), On the Road (Kerouac), A Clockwork Orange (Burgess), Ender's Game (Card), Haroun and the Sea of Stories (Rushdie), Song of Solomon (Morrison), The Negative Dialectics of Poodle Play (Watson),

Movies :: Triplets of Belleville, Kill Bill, Hot Fuzz, Lars and the Real Girl, Jean Luc-Godard, Wes Anderson, Kenneth Anger, Maya Deren,

Music :: Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Cake, Beatles, Mr. Bungle, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, John Zorn, Estradasphere, Brave Combo, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Bela Bartok, Igor Stravinsky, Clifford Brown, Benny Green, Cannonball Adderley, and many more.

The six things I could never do without

caffeine, pre-created entertainment (books, movies, music), sound creation devices (opt.), snacks, friends & family

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what hasn't been created/combined/mixed (thoroughly), what it would be like to be someone else (http://tinyurl.com/ynuvn6, or be someone else being someone else [http://tinyurl.com/yc35cyz]), the nature of the present, when am I not me?

On a typical Friday night I am

cleaning my house before I go out to hear/make music, see/make art or hang out with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

when I get angry, for some reason in my head I say "I can think of a thousand ..." but never finish the sentence or the phrase and I certainly couldn't think of a thousand ... maybe a couple hundred, but that's pretty optimistic.

You should message me if

you are an interesting lady

or

if I messaged you (which means that I think you are an interesting lady).
