My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I moved to Boston from Portland, Oregon two years ago and at times I still feel new. It was an amazing experience to up and move across the country alone and learn more about who I am. I love learning and meeting new people, I'm responsible but always up for an adventure, I like sports and beer and am most comfortable in jeans (shorts or skirt now that it is summer) and a tank top or T-shirt. I am not a crazy sports fan, I don't know stats but I really enjoy watching them. I love the outdoors, hiking, camping and fishing (I was very spoiled living in the Northwest), but am completely happy hanging out and relaxing, grabbing dinner or a drink. I'm easy going and just like having fun and not taking myself or life too seriously. I enjoy being spontaneous and love being with people who are the same.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am a social worker and work with high risk elders, it's a very dynamic job and some pretty ridiculous stories come out of it. I haven't traveled enough around New England and am hoping to change that. I went to Sasquatch (music festival in central Washington state) and am excited for Riot Fest in Chicago in September and might go to Boston Calling along with a lot of other smaller shows (Black Lips and The Rosebuds that I can an think of). And I recently found out my aunt has season tickets to the SF 49ers and I get to go see them play the Seahawks over Thanksgiving-my first NFL game.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Staying up too late, impulsively buying tickets to shows, indulging my impulsive friends (and feeding my impulsive side), procrastinating, being a good friend, being a good listener, and getting along with everyone (minus really ignorant people).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I smile a lot and have been told I look younger than I actually am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I tend to enjoy nonfiction books more than fiction. Some of my more recent favorites have been The Places In Between and The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog. I haven't had as much time to read recently as I would like.
As for music, my interests are diverse...Okkervil River, The Queers, Black Lips, Arcade Fire, The New Pornographers, The Ramones, Of Montreal, Talking Heads, Postal Service, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Grand Archives, Alkaline Trio, Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, Death Cab, Mumford and Sons, Bruce Springsteen, The Exploding Hearts, The Decemberists, The Mountain Goats...that's all I can think of right now. I am pretty open overall though.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Good beer (and the occasional cheap/river beer)
My iPhone-though I use it primarily for music and maps...and talking with friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My future career(s), making plans to go out with friends, how to cure myself of my procrastinating ways, whether I should book my flights now or wait in case the prices drop more (procrastination?), whether I will ever feel fully like an adult, how happy I am that I made this move across the country and sometimes missing home.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It really depends, sometimes grabbing a drink with friends and other Fridays just relaxing at home with my roommates or alone. I am sure that's a very generic answer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I sleep really deep and can easily sleep through my alarms.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
-If you actually read my profile and we have something in common or you think we might. If this is the case it would be awesome if you mentioned something about it. I don't need a summary of course, but something more than just "hey" or a generic message.
-You are laid back and enjoy being spontaneous sometimes
-We like similar music and you know of shows coming up
-You want to go see the Bruins play, I haven't been yet (I know the season is a few months away still) or Red Sox
-Bonus points if you have been to the Pacific Northwest or are from there and bonus points for (most) tattoos.
-You should not message me if you answered that you would prefer to date someone of your own race.
**I realize reading some of the above makes me sound demanding, which is so not the case.
