I've lived in SF 20 years now and really love my simple life here. I feel lucky to be established and be connected so closely to my extended family and friends in the Bay Area. For me, SF is an unusual, beautiful, (and liberal) place, and when I'm here I still sometimes feel like I'm on vacation. If I get too caught up in the rat race, I tend for forget how much I like it here, so I'm trying to slow down more often to appreciate it all.

I enjoy traveling to places such as France and New England. I also love exploring the Northern California Coast. I appreciate remote places with little light and noise pollution, but I equally enjoy holidays in the heart of Manhattan and Paris.

I believe that pics and profiles cannot ultimately determine attraction. Two people must meet to determine whether chemistry exists, which in my mind is a mystery. While there is some basis to profiling, I don't take it too seriously or rigidly.

For those into C.G. Jung, I am clearly an "INFP" according to official Myers-Briggs type indicator tests. I'm almost at the extreme end of "N" and "F", and pretty far end of "P."

I'm quite involved in volunteer work, which includes some travel. At this point I'm quite interested in personal development.

I've been super lucky in my career, though I don't define myself by it. I've worked for same company for 14 yrs, in the same basic field for 20. The friends I've made in my career are the most important aspect of it.

Everyone says my voice is quite discernible, but I don't totally get that even when I hear a recording of myself.

Kurt Vonnegut is my favorite American author. Next in line is Kilgore Trout. My favorite single book is Walden by Henry David Thoreau: I have a wonderful hardcopy edition with beautiful drawings. I also love Gay Spirit by Mark Thompson. I've read Grapes of Wrath and Heart of Darkness multiple times.

I appreciate all sorts of music and theater-- everything from opera to off-off Broadway. My favorite operas are Wagner’s Ring cycle and Mozart’s Don Giovanni. My musical interests also range from Baroque to what I consider to be "classical" jazz (e.g., Miles Davis). I love nearly everything performed at the Berkeley Rep and Marsh. I love classical organ concerts, and spent six weeks attending many in Paris. I used to play the organ.

I do love those old South Park episodes-- laugh out loud funny. I am always up for movies especially independent flicks at places like Roxy and Opera Plaza.

When possible I like to know where my food comes from. Whenever possible I prefer supporting local, organic, small farmers. I appreciate good food and regularly frequent farmers markets. I like trying all sorts of restaurants and cafes in various categories. I’m trying to improve my cooking skills and find myself swearing by my cast iron skillets (I have three. Is that too many?).

Never say "never." (that's just for me).

The meaning of existence. Though I'm not 100% sure that there is one.
