My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I’m an outgoing, independent man. I grew up on a farm, but have forged my own way and lived globally – some of it for personal growth (Paris, Tokyo, Vancouver) and other for career (Washington DC, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Ottawa). So I’m a blend of rural and urban, humble roots and global ambition. Friends and colleagues would say that I’m energetic, playful, a natural leader and emotionally aware. I love learning, and am fundamentally motivated to empower others. My Masters was in post-colonial literature, but I also read quantum physics and management books. Art, business, politics, theatre, science, agriculture, food, wine and language are all intertwined and fascinating to me. I'm active and fit and enjoy sports, but am not a jock. I know my way around the back roads and trails of southwestern Ontario. My work allows me the good fortune to connect the talents of local Canadian actors and writers with the challenges and strategies of the Fortune 500.

My ideal partner is courageous, independent, compassionate, irreverent and curious, and wants to share in the journey of life.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Building my company and reconfiguring a new life. My kids are an essential part of my life, and I'm a chauffeur, coach, cook and storyteller for them.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Working with bankers, wealth management executives and sales leaders in technology or pharmaceutical companies ; building teams of people; connecting people; romance and genuine conversation; creating a new song each night at bedtime.

I love to read, but find it challenging to get the time. However, there are many writers that I treasure including Salman Rushdie, Margaret Atwood, J M Coetzee, Shakespeare (Lear, Measure for Measure are favourites), James Joyce, Alice Munro, Stephen Pinker, Christopher Hitchens (RIP), Michael Pollan, Naomi Wolf. Andrew Sullivan's blog and Daily Kos are essential reading for me.

TV: Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report, Modern Family, Homeland, House of Cards, Mad Men, The Good Wife (all of the above are only viewed online or thanks to iTunes).

Music: all genres and styles are well represented in my collection, but I have a profound weakness for Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Ani Difranco and Oscar Peterson.

Movies: I've not solved this puzzle -- I love great filmmakers (Scorcese, Spielberg, Kurosawa, Wim Wenders, Woody Allen, the Coen Brothers), but I'm also a sucker for popcorn (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Marvel movies). Nora Ephron's scripts make me laugh.

Food: I love to cook, and to eat well. I've been fortunate to explore the world and my food interests are vast. I love to the taste of freshly picked berries or summer peas, and the smell of fresh sage or lemon thyme.

You are intrigued. I'm a newcomer to this online world. Anyone who knows me will say that a conversation with me is energizing, funny, authentic and respectful. I'm still thinking about how to convey that in an online way. So a "meaningful look" across this virtual room will be rewarded!
