My self-summary
I think there is something in the journey and it is not always about the destination. I want to break away from the treadmill of consumption and my success isn’t measured by the possessions I have or have not accumulated.

I love music and it has shaped a lot of my thinking and view of the world. I like trying to play instruments I have never touched before. I have a bass guitar that may sit for weeks, but it never gets a chance to collect much dust. I have been called a music snob. I attribute this to listening to little mainstream music and thinking pop music is generally terrible.

I have some tattoos, okay, I have a lot of tattoos. Depending on how they are counted it is somewhere between 45 and 55, and closing in on 150 hours of tattooing. About 30 of those hours were hand poked, no machine dotwork. I started stretching my ears last yearish, and they are currently at 9/16ths. I hardly ever get tired talking about body modification. Hardly ever, but sure fire ways to get me tired are calling them tats or saying they were done with a gun. If you studied ancient/indigenous civilizations and know about how they used body modifications, bonus points will be awarded (no points actually awarded).

I have been vegetarian and now vegan for half my life. While it is important to me, it is my choice, and you can choose for yourself. I am not going to silently judge your food choices. But yes, I consider fish meat, and no, I don't eat it.

For the sake of full disclosure, I am seperated but legally married and she is one of my four housemates. She is still a friend, just not a romantic/physical one anymore.

And while the box was checked about not wanting kids, this really means that I don't want to make any. Kids are great and can be life enriching.

I also often forget my age.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now, I am transitioning back to the US after living in Germany for seven years. I feel like I have learned a lot in that time and am excited to see if the television news version of the states matches the actual version. So far, it is just as exciting.

I just found out that I was accepted into a master of social work program and am going to be a full time grad student in the fall.

I plan on having some traveling adventures in the near future. Maybe a very long bicycle trip? I just spent a week camping in National Parks in Northern Arizona and Southern Utah.

I haven't been thinking about the distant future much recently, and am more focused on the present. I want to enjoy this moment.
I’m really good at
I have two super powers. Sense of direction and parallel parking. They may not save the world, but they are practical.
The first things people usually notice about me
I assume it is the tattoos. I have gotten some comments recently about the tooth on my thumb. People have also suggested I should smile more, because they cannot tell if I am sad, mad, or glad.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I listen to punk, hardcore, metal and now and then, some socially conscious hip hop. Perennial favorites include Propagandhi, Bad Religion, With Honor, and Black Sabbath. Other things to keep it interesting, Isis, Austin Lucas, and Groundation. Oh, and Sweatshop Union.

I watch Supertroopers and Futurama. Those are the go to choices, when I just want something on. The last movie I watched was Red Dawn (the one from 1884). The last show I watched was Bob's Burgers. The last album I bought was Reach Beyond the Sun by Shai Hulud.

I mostly read non fiction. It has been text books for awhile so I am out of practice when it comes to leisure reading. Bowling Alone is sitting next to my bed right now. While I enjoy movies, I couldn't tell you what is new or popular and I probably won't get a pop culture reference. I could blame living in Germany for this and the fact that in most pop culture things there seem to be 10-15 years behind, but it is mostly because of lack of interest.
The six things I could never do without
Music is important, intelligent conversation, meaningful interactions, positive actions, time outdoors, and periodic haircuts.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sometimes I feel like helping others is the best way I can help myself. I want to leave the planet better than I found it. I do spend a lot of time thinking about just how to go about that. Also, how awesome bicycles are. Oh, and random small tattoos that can be used as space filler or four letter words that can be knuckle tattoos.
On a typical Friday night I am
Typical? Since I have been back in the states, it has been laundry and fixing things around the house, while having a tasty craft or micro brew beer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I own Madonna's Immaculate Collection on CD. And while the Beatles were good, I feel like they are overrated.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 25–45
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
If you prefer collecting experiences over collecting things. If you are vegan or vegetarian. If you can recommend local Thai food. If you have a variety of opinions and outlooks but are also able to accept differences. Also story tellers and story listeners, music makers and music watchers. Or if you want to watch episodes of Frontline on PBS. Or if you know some mixed drinks with gin. I feel like I am ready to try gin. And, because I don't understand it, you should message me if you identify as Libertarian and can explain why it is a good idea without being a pompous ass.
