My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
New and Improved for 2015! At least I hope so… I’ve got a lot of outdoorsy/adventure photos, and rock climbing, hiking, and downhill skiing are some of my favorite things, so if none of those activities are part of your life, we’re not going to click. On the other hand, I get just as excited for a night at the ballet as I do for a day on the slopes, and I can hang out at Andy’s and listen to jazz as comfortably as I hang from a rock face. Honestly, I wish I had more occasions to wear my tux.
HELP WANTED: Unusual gentleman seeks open minded lady for clever banter and general shenanigans about town, because banter and shenanigans are always a good idea, right? I'd love to meet someone with a few similar interests (movies, literature, fitness, tennis, skiing, the arts) and a few similar perspectives (liberal, agnostic, open-minded). Is anyone up for hiking a rocky canyon or strolling a museum while discussing life, the universe and everything? That would be a great place to start. If you think you might be interested in meeting an active, fit, educated professional for wide ranging conversation and eclectic cultural adventures, I'd be excited to hear from you.
My perfect partner would be educated and cultured, smart and ironic, fit and athletic, love to hike, ski and/or mountain bike, have longish hair, wear glasses when she's being serious, drive a hybrid, or maybe a Subaru. I used to have a dog requirement, but I recently acquired an adorable Aussie mix, so you’re off the hook there. It seems unlikely that my match would describe her body type as "curvy" or "about average" because her active lifestyle would keep her fit, and I tend to be wary of people that describe themselves as "brutally honest" because often that is cover for just plain brutal. I doubt my match would take any particular religion seriously, but most importantly, she would be strong, confident and possess a healthy sense of adventure. The phrase "that sounds interesting, let's go!" would be a mainstay of her vocabulary. She would use it often in response to my prompts such as: "there is a landmark, silent film playing in town" or "the dance council is bringing in a group to perform Swan Lake, but with puppets". If the previous paragraph sounds even a little like you, or someone you used to be, or someone you'd like to hang out with, why don't you wink or say hello? Odds are we have much in common. I respond to everyone, because that's just how I am, and you never know when things will click.
Hopefully you will have a few fun pictures posted. Of course if we meet and you look nothing like your profile pics, you have to buy me drinks until you do.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My sons are grown (25, 24 and 21) and I'm quite proud of the young men they've become. I loved coaching basketball, helping with homework and such, but I'm enjoying this next phase. It seems to allow for more books, more travel, and hopefully a partner/friend/lover with complimentary interests and a liberal perspective.

That I'm much better looking than my pics. Can I say that? Is that cheating?

lit: A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Sound and the Fury, Crime and Punishment. movies: High Fidelity, Wings of Desire, Dodgeball, The Dark Knight. diet: I don't eat red meat, but I love seafood and make a mean Thai chili scallop
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I choke up during the final game sequence of the movie "Hoosiers". I'm a sucker for a good underdog story.
