I am hooked, on phonics, and it worked for me.

My Self-Summary

I'm Ryan, not exactly your average brown fella... Recently moved to NYC... Ok it wasn't that recent... lol (Previous 'Homes' include: London, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles)

I'd like to think I'm mellow, honest and thoughtful. My relationships with people mean a lot to me, be that family, or friends. I love meeting new people, people that can be an inspiration, people that can make me laugh, people that I can laugh with, or people with passion. It's way more fun to be a little silly than it is to take everything so seriously...

I'm just a silly happy fella, and certainly am not intimidating... Seriously... lol Just say hi... lol

What I’m doing with my life

On tour again... Cities include: San Antonio, Lubbock, Mission, Toronto, Detroit, NYC, Richmond, Washington, Pittsburgh, Philly, Baltimore, Orlando, Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, Richmond, Chicago, St Louis, Omaha, St Paul, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Magna, Denver, Boise, Portland, LA, San Fran, Las Vegas, Memphis, New Orleans, and Baltimore!

Recording, Mixing and Mastering albums for bands/artists, doing live sound at shows, listening to a ton of music, playing some music here n' there, learning, reading, living, people-watching, enjoying and being inspired. At the same time I'm trying to justify to myself that what I do somehow makes the world a better place...

I’m really good at

Making People Smile and/or Laugh, Job Interviews, Finding Deals on Craigslist, Taking Tests, Getting Lost, Being Indecisive, Making Friends, Seeming Disinterested, My Job, Parking, Spending Money, Talking to Strangers, Getting Wifi Free in Hotels...

The first things people usually notice about me

Brown skin...not too many of us folk running 'round at rock/metal shows...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: As of right now it's all non-fiction stuff... probably of no interest to anyone else... Current reading Three Cups of Tea, "The Anatomy of Buzz: How to Create Word of Mouth Marketing," "The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search for Growth Through Music." Also a lot of instruction manuals lately... weird

And everyone had been talking so much about them, that I picked up The Audacity of Hope, Eat Pray Love, and while I was there I stumbled upon one called Musicophillia, the study of the human brain and music... interesting

Movies: My favs are the kind of films that make you rethink your life, and somehow it's always the really depressing ones that do it best. American History X, Munich, Lord of War, Schindler's List, Pan's Labyrinth, Fargo, The Pianist, Hotel Rwanda, Pursuit of Happiness, City of God, Seven Pounds and many more, and then there are the ones that just rock (thank you 80s) like The Rock (pun intended!), Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Beverly Hills Cop, Blazing Saddles, See No Evil Hear No Evil, Trading Spaces, The Hudsucker Proxy... Oh and I love foreign films.

Music: It would probably be easier to list what I don't like... not a fan of Gangsta Rap (although Immortal Technique is pretty badass), Country Pop, and the super repetitive inorganic electronic music (except Telephone Tel Aviv, which is pretty badass... so far it sounds like there's an exception to everything I don't like). What's on a current playlist on my ipod? Alan Silvestri, Acacia Strain, Angelo Milli, Anne Dudley, As Cities Burn, As I Lay Dying, Avenged Sevenfold, Between the Buried & Me, Billy Joel, Black Dahlia Murder, Blindside, Bury Your Dead, Chopin, Chrisette Michele, Circa Survive, Damien Rice, Dance Gavin Dance, Danny Elfman, Dear Hunter, The Devil Wears Prada, Dire Straits, Dredg, Dustin Kensrue, East Village Opera Company, Envy on the Coast!!, Foo Fighters, Further Seems Forever, George Winston, Glassjaw, Hans Zimmer, Head Automatica, Hero Pattern, Huey Lewis and the News, The Human Abstract, Itzak Perlman, Jackson 5, Jamiroquai, John Mayer, Kaki King, Lamb of God, Macy Gray, Mae, Mayday Parade, Marvin Gaye, Mastodon, Mute Math, Open Hand, Panic at the Disco!, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Protest the Hero, Ray Charles, Sade, Sparta, Stevie Wonder, Strata, The Cab, Thrice, Underoath, US3, Vince Guaraldi, The Virgins, Xploding Plastix

Food: Sushi/Japanese, Thai, Indonesian, Indian, etc..

The six things I could never do without

A Guitar or any instrument, music, friends, insight and/or inspiration, my iPhone (yea I'm hooked again), and something productive to do.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Where the world is heading, and where I'll be in that picture...

Why people do the things they do... (although I read a book to this effect... so I should know by now lol)

On a typical Friday night I am

Often out to dinner with a friend or two, at home mixing a record, at a show, buying something I really don't need, playing pool, or I have no idea that it's friday...

How about some things I'd LIKE to do on a friday... People watching, exploring new places that I've never been, see some new museums, theater, art exhibits, go sailing, fly a plane, play a random soccer game with people I don't know, take a dog for a walk, go swimming, man the list goes on! How about you? what would you like to do on a friday?

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I don't cook very well... I have a terrible tendency to eat the ingredients as they're being prepared... Plus it's no fun to spend so much time to cook a meal if no one else is there to enjoy it with you!

You should message me if

You're interested in holding a conversation... Tell me something silly, something serious, anything that makes you smile. Really I'd love to hear it :)

or if

You find this as hilarious as I do...
