It is difficult to gauge people online. E-mails and messages can be very impersonal and artificial. I'd much rather meet in person than exchange messages for weeks on end, so don't be put off by a suggestion to meet for a coffee or happy hour. It is fifteen minutes, nothing more.
My experience with trying to meet people though this has yielded a lot of flakes (then again, you get what you pay for). Most of us are adults here. If you aren't here to meet new people then please don't waste my time.
