My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
i'm an extremely laid back guy, cool, witty and entertaining to hang out with, a vegetarian, relatively well-traveled (SE Asia, Mexico, Central America) and well-read, dig music (quite obsessively, I might add), sports, dogs, outdoor fun, very lighthearted, all about love, don't take life or myself too seriously, just enjoy existence for its own sake.

I am easygoing, quirky, and playful
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
working as a writer/editor/fact-checker

kicking it with amos (my dog) 1/3/14 update: Amos died today, so most up-to-date thing I'm doing with my life is being sad and pondering how long I will wait before getting another dog :(

have various other undisclosed notions about what to do w/myself.

mostly just living life.

my most recent achievement is defeating cancer. shocking, yet true. chances of it ever returning are almost zero, so no worries for the future. if you get lucky, you can see my badass scar from the surgery. don't be afraid to use it as an icebreaker. i don't mind talking about it, as it's a quality story and of course it has a happy ending.

truthfully, i have everything i could ever ask for out of life except the right female to share and experience it with. that's not a need, because i'm quite content on my own, but it is a desire, the one life enhancement i seek.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
being me
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
probably the hair. incidentally, i'm giving consideration to cutting it, but i have no idea what to do with it instead. so, should you and i become a twosome, you might be placed in charge of a makeover (or, of course, you could choose to keep me as i am.)

also, most people dig my monotone voice and dry sense of humor.

books- anything by haruki murakami. also love "cruddy" by lynda barry. i rarely venture outside the realm of literary fiction. i spent several years working in the book biz and have amassed enough of a library to last me multiple lifetimes.

movies- waking life, y tu mama tambien, big lebowski, fast times at ridgemont high, easy rider, city of god, the graduate, pee wee's big adventure, too many more to name. generally the arty type when it comes to film, indie and foreign, etc, but also a sucker for shark movies. and the muppets.

music- very eclectic tastes. really believe there are only 2 kinds of music, good and bad, and all genres contain practitioners of both. but i dig the good kind of jazz, funk, soul, hip hop, rock, blues, reggae, african, latin, europop, even a little country. it's been a long time since i counted, but i would say i have close to 2000 cds (too old-school for an ipod, not old-school enough to collect vinyl). if you'd like to discuss specific artists, drop a line, cuz i could go on and on and on... and still on further...

food- all things vegetarian, particularly ethiopian, indian, thai, vietnamese. i really dig pizza as well. yams, avocados, pineapples, and blackberries rank amongst my favorite produce. and can't forgot the fried okra. also, i like everything spicy as hell and heavy on the garlic. and i consume great quantities of tea. i'm really starting to get into seaweed salad quite a bit these days as well.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

dogs
the simpsons
family/friends
breakfast tacos
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
things and stuff.

i'm further intrigued by stuff and things.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
there is no typical friday night. you just never know what a fella such as myself will be up to.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
it's not private at all to those who know me, but since so many people find it a startling revelation, i'll confess to the fact that i watch professional wrestling with a religious fervor.

why the heck not?

i might add that i'd prefer to hear from those who truly believe in and desire love. i'm not too interested in the jaded and/or cynical.
