I am adventurous, passionate, and far beyond driven.

My Self-Summary

I am a wanderer. I am a student of life. I understand the world differently. I see things in unique ways. I write selfishly. I write... a lot. I paint.

I work in PR and communications, currently for a nonprofit agency. In a way, I make suggestions for a living. I talk, I consult, I read. It's... existential. I'm back in Dallas, having moved all over the country, physically and emotionally. I love the idea of getting up and going, and I am getting used to the idea of having something to fall back on. I am interested in meeting like-minded others without anything too serious up front. 'Go with the flow', to use a fair cliche.

Understand that there's a difference between 'confidence' and 'arrogance'. I am interested in meeting real people in real life. Ideally, I want a challenge. Someone that will call me out, someone competitive and compassionate. It's just my nature.

Non sum qualis eram.

What I’m doing with my life

Consulting, former whitewater raft guide, sponsored guitarist, world traveler, seeking... something, I'm sure.

I’m really good at

If I take an interest in something, I can only dedicate myself to the point of mastery. So... painting, guitar repair, falconry, travel plans, writing, home brewing, beer snobbery, Trivial Pursuit, comma usage, name dropping, using quotes as if they were my own thoughts, finding meaning in the dissonance, metaphors, switching languages in mid sentence.

The first things people usually notice about me

Size. Formerly, my beard. My eyes get a lot of attention, so some say.

Personally, I noticed that today's children learn from cigarette burns, fast cars, fast women, and cheap drinks.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: House of Leaves, Johnny Got His Gun, The Cliff Walker, Catcher in the Rye, La Comedia, Another Roadside Attraction, Heart of Darkness, Big Fish, Beast in the Jungle.

Movies: Thinking horrors, suspense. Independent comedies. Eternal Sunshine, Burnt by the Sun, Johnny Got His Gun, 25th Hour. The Big Lebowski, The Sting.

Music: TOOL, A Perfect Circle, Type O Negative, Corrosion of Conformity, Primus, Daft Punk, Nine Inch Nails, Phish, Guster, The Flaming Lips, Clutch, Puscifer, Dog Fashion Disco, Hanoi Rocks, Metallica, Kasabian, Placebo, Fear Factory Opeth...anything with meaning. Good times for Jane's Addiction, Neubauten, Mgmt, and MSI, love and reverence for Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Curtis Mayfield, John Buckley, Lou Reed. Not Nickelback. And make sure to find the band OURS. Just... wow.

Bonus, on specificity: Songs that have been stuck in my head for at least a year:

"Rocket" and "Frail and Bedazzled" by the Smashing Pumpkins;
"Rosetta Stoned", "The Patient", "You Lied", "Forty-six & 2", "Jambi", and "Jimmy" by Tool;
"Black No. 1", "(We Were) Electrocute", "Anesthesia", and "Less than Zero (<0)" by Type O;
"Grind" by Alice in Chains;
"Still Day Beneath the Sun" by Opeth
"Three Days" and "Just Because" by Jane's Addiction
"Pure Morning" by Placebo
"Bleed" by OURS
"The Mission" by Puscifer

Food: I have served Sangiovese with Grape Nuts. I bet I could live for quite some time on bison and IPAs.

The six things I could never do without

My dog, guitars, acrylic paints, Yellowstone, ideas.... and... hmm, attraction? I love being in love with the world.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I spend too much time thinking. It's time for action. Go, go, go.

Lately, I've spent a lot of time about my newest entrepreneurial venture, the actualization of my own consulting firm. I'm also artistically restless, and whole-liveredly attracted to bonfires.

On a typical Friday night I am

Overwhelmed as one would be, if placed in my position.

I'm the type that is honestly associating enjoyment to the company I am in. Nights out with far too heavy bar tabs including incriminating pictures and nights in painting and writing new guitar pieces have their times and places.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I once covered a Creed song a long time ago in front of a decent crowd.

Also, I apparently have a secret crush on Sweden. That, or I am the victim of a subtle, futile conspiracy.

One more? Sure, because this fact doesn't fit anywhere else. I score high with the Brooklyn crowd. Might be my affinity for Type O Negative, my connections to Duff's, the extended family's bars and art houses in Red Hook, or the fact that I am related to a lot of grave sites in Greenwood. If any of these are things you're familiar with, send something my way.

I own a Sig Sauer.

You should message me if

You're real, and really interested in seeing things differently. It's not arrogance, it's just... me. You should want to be interested in doing something in real life. I'm a guy, I have feelings, I can get hurt. I just want to meet real, interesting people. Let's just see what happens from there. I am sincere when I note that I have no expectations, because there are so many infinite opportunities to waste time trying to force something out of nothing.

you know the band 3oh!3.

you wanna catch Rock am Ring 2009.

in all seriousness, not unlike the rest of this section, i would love to meet someone that can really 'wow' me. i want to have that feeling, that surprise, that... yeah, that. just the overall glow of "WOW". something to keep me on my toes, and interested, wanting more.
