I have a wonderful, 14 year old daughter. Being a mom has been one of the greatest gifts I have had.As she gets older I have more time to myself, but of course she (and her ever growing list of activites!) is still number one in my life!
I have always dreamed about doing certain things that I may or may not ever manage to do, but I think they say alot about who I am, and what I care about. Here is just a small sample of my (potential) bucket list!
Move out to some beautiful land (maybe off teh grid? maybe with like minded friends?) and live close to the earth with animals.(As a little girl growing up in NYC-a place I still love, and which is a part of me,I always dreamed of growing up and living in a Hippy community on a farm in Vermont! :)
Teach or volunteer overseas for a few years or longer (India! Thailand? Burma? SOmewhere else beautiful and interesting)
Become fluent in Spanish
Sit a 20 day Vipassana meditation course
Take up something creative (like I did when I was in college)..painting, drawing, throwing pots, playing music...I played the violin for many years and the sitar for a few!
Adopt a child from another country, or provide a home to a child from this one who needs a loving, stable family. DOn't want to take either of these on alone, though. Being a single parent all these years has been great in many ways, but I am not up for a second round!
Lately I have been very fortunate to be spending time with horses, who are some of the most sensitive, magical beings on this planet! Not only does the sweet boy I lease teach me about myself, he gracefully carries me out into the beauty of nature ,even on the coldest, rainiest winter days!
I am and seek someone who has his material world figured out. I have a home, a wonderful garden, and love my work as a teacher of students who are learning English as a second language, and to kids who struggle academically or behaviorally. Though I work in public schools, I am greatly inspired by Waldorf education, and by those who think "outside the box".
I value relationships, as evidenced by my close long term friendships. I love the saying, "friends are family by choice".
Another quote by one of my favorite musicians..."The best things in life aren't things. They're living. They're breathing. They're laughing. They're crying."
I value social and environmental justice and like to believe that I do good work for positive change in my community.I love learning from and growing relationships with people from many cultural backgrounds.
I lean left, politically, and an awareness of social and environmental issues is important to me.
I have travelled the world, India being my absolute favorite place of all.It is home to me in a way that is hard to verbalize. Guatemala is a quick second. This winter I am off to Thailand and Burma for the first time! Yippee!
I am a committed Vipassana meditator, with a love and knowledge of Buddhist teachings.
I am healthy, eat mostly organically ,love to ski, hike, etc... and rarely watch TV. I do love to watch videos and movies, though they are not the ones you find easily in the mainstream theaters.
I am of Jewish descent, raised in NYC. I am intelligent, passionate, emotional, intense, very much a scorpio.
I seek a partner with whom I can share a deep emotional connection, with honest, authentic communication.A true friend to share this life with.
While I like to get dressed up on the rare occasion, I am just as happy (maybe even happier!) in an old pair of jeans and a T-shirt, getting covered with earth in the garden, forest, or the barn.
Oh..and one last thing. Many guys seem to miss the fact that I don't drink alcohol, or if they notice it, they assume it is due to a past addiction. I have never been much of a drinker , and as intoxicants are not all that compatible with my meditation practice, I find it best to just avoid them.
