I am sweet, witty, and intelligent.

My Self-Summary

I'm a writer living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, who likes making people laugh whenever possible. And according to my test results, I am a Gentleman Socialist. Huzzah!

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a writer living in Brooklyn, writing plays, screenplays, short stories, and the occasional novel. When I'm not writing, I like to have adventures that I will write about later.

I am also hoping to learn how to speak French, and I enjoy listening in on other people's conversations. I'm also following the abridged Thomas Jefferson and pursuing happiness, wherever I can. I always like to bring people along for the ride.

I’m really good at

swimming, cracking jokes, spinning witticisms, typing, dancing and Spanish verb conjugation.

The first things people usually notice about me

My glasses. And my apparent resemblance to Matt Damon. (I don't see it, but I suppose it's better than looking like Ben Affleck.)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I like movies that cause unease and make me emotionally bereft. A good drama can do a number on me; movies that make me cry are especially appreciated. I like world cinema a lot, less for the global aesthetic than for the subtitles. I have a nerdy knowledge of both good and bad science fiction, with a love for those that flirt with German expressionism. Favorites: "Head-On", "Dark City", "Brazil", "The Manchurian Candidate", "The City of Lost Children" and "WALL-E".

I like non-fiction books about recent history, like "A Problem from Hell" or "The Dark Side." Currently on a Russian literature kick: rocked my way through Solzhenitsin, and now it's on to "Doctor Zhivago".

I like just about everything in music - I have a pretty big music collection. Love indie rock, underground electronic music, Indian pop music, 70's soul music and crunchy neo-folk. Usually what I'm listening to is influenced by what I'm writing.

Food: I like it. Everything except asparagus.

The six things I could never do without

The Internet, democracy, subtitles, my moleskin notebook, sleep, and Hawaii.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future, in lieu of the past. Also, good slogans I could use if I ever wanted to run for office.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with friends at the local bar, or in Park Slope having wine with friends, or curled up on my couch, watching a documentary on PBS or a Romanian film about illegal abortions. In my experience, however, most Friday nights are atypical, as a rule.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have an underdeveloped mutant twin who lives under my shirt. It's okay, though, because he's leading a rebel movement on Mars.

You should message me if

You like to laugh and you have a good sense of humor. I don't take myself too seriously; I just like to have fun. If this appeals to you, you should send me a message!
