My self-summary
I'm a nice, grounded guy who's easy-going with an ambitious streak. I value passion, drive and smarts in others.

I have great friends and a job I enjoy, I love living in NYC and all that it offers, and I get to travel a lot for work and pleasure. But, I've been single for a few years now, and I'm definitely ready to share all of that, and expand upon it, with a great guy.

Let's go travel somewhere fun and order room service. Let's splurge on a nice restaurant in the city. Let's split a bottle or two of great wine at the cool wine bar down the block. Let's cook a big dinner party for our friends. Let's go for long runs together and push each other to do better.
What I’m doing with my life
I've loved the airline industry ever since I was a kid, and in addition to being an avid flier, I get to live my passion every day by working for an airline. The area I work in is still relatively new at my company, so I also enjoy that work feels entrepreneurial as we continue to build the business.

I travel a decent amount for work itself and I try to take advantage of my flight benefits as much as I can (employees fly standby for free). I love the beach and will often fly down the Caribbean for a weekend in the sun with a big stack of magazines and books.

Outside of work, I've come to really enjoy running (something that would have really surprised the younger me). I've run a couple of marathons, and hope to run the NYC marathon every year until I no longer am able. Meanwhile, I run in as many of the small New York Road Runners races that I can fit into the schedule.

Other than that, I'm lucky to have a small group of really great friends in the city, and I'm always game for grabbing drinks, having a meal, throwing a big dinner party or just walking around the city. A big game of Celebrity or even mahjongg with friends is about as good as it gets. On my own, television is a guilty pleasure.
I’m really good at
- Explaining why the airline industry works in the crazy ways it does
- Throwing big dinner parties. I really like cooking for big groups, and can pull together a great meal in a few hours.
- Being reasonable (which can be a blessing and a curse)
- Running for a long time
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my glasses. There's one jovial homeless guy in the West Village who always calls me Harry Potter when I walk by.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love books and yet am distracted by an ever-growing stack of periodicals. I always tend to have a few books going at once; despite my best effort to work through the backlog of un-read books on my shelves, I more often than not reach for the last thing I bought. Recent terrific books include The Art of Fielding, Where'd You Go Bernadette, Freedom, Let the Great World Spin, and The Warmth of Other Suns.

From a music standpoint, I have a soft spot for lesbian folk music, oldies, showtunes, and newer folk/pop people like Deb Talan/The Weepies, Joanna Newsom, and Sufjan Stevens. My running mix gets more Top 40 by the year.

I love going to the movies and usually bring my own popcorn. When the stars align and some combination of Whoopi Goldberg, Sally Field, and Kathy Najimy is in a movie, I am very happy. I'm also a sucker for a cheesy romantic comedy when I'm on a plane. From a TV standpoint, I'm sort of obsessed with The Good Wife and Fringe at the moment.

Finally, I'm a foodie and love trying out new restaurants in the city as well as cooking for others. I like unpretentious, delicious food and wine and am partial to the Ina Garton cannon when I cook for others. (It's always a party.)
The six things I could never do without
1. Air travel and the ability to fly away on a whim
2. "$100,000 Pyramid" reruns
3. Running shoes
4. A strong fan when I sleep
5. Newspapers, magazines and books in their proper, paper formats
6. Activities requiring stamina
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why so many people think it's acceptable to text or read email while walking up and down the subway stairs. Why I should be running more. Where to fly next weekend.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm equally happy staying in as I am going out, so it's most likely very relaxed dinner or drinks with friends at home or out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I will write someone off if they're wearing those Transition lenses that get dark in sunlight. I recognize that this is extremely catty.

If you'd be up for getting together and grabbing a drink. I think first dates are fun and it's always nice to meet new people, even if nothing more significant materializes.
