My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a nice, grounded, guy who's easy-going with an ambitious streak. I value passion, drive, and smarts in others.

I have great friends and a job I enjoy, I love living in NYC and all that it offers, and I get to travel a lot for work and pleasure. I've been single for a few years now, and I'm ready to expand upon all of that with a great guy.

Let's split a bottle or two of great wine at the cool wine bar down the block. Let's cook a big dinner party for our friends. Let's go for long runs together and push each other to do better.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've loved the airline industry ever since I was a kid and now I'm the guy that you can blame when you think airline tickets are too expensive. I try to take advantage of my flight benefits as much as I can, and I love flying to a beach for a weekend in the sun with a big stack of magazines and books.

Outside of work, I run a lot and seem to always be training for a marathon (which I'm having some angst about; I may switch to shorter distances soon).

Other than that, I'm lucky to have a group of great friends in the city, and I'm always game for grabbing drinks, having a meal, throwing a big dinner party or just walking around the city. A big game of Celebrity with friends is about as good as it gets for me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- Explaining why the airline industry works in the crazy ways it does (BTW - there is no "perfect" time at which to buy the cheapest ticket)
- Throwing big dinner parties. I really like cooking for big groups, and can pull together a great meal in a few hours.
- Being reasonable (which can be a blessing and a curse)
- Running for a long time
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My beard. It's a relatively new thing for me -- I grew it last winter and am debating how long to keep it going. (Update: I shaved it for the summer.) But I find that people make the oddest offhand comments about it. One very butch pilot I was in a meeting with told me that he was in awe of my man hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Despite my best effort to work through the backlog of un-read books on my shelves, I more often than not reach for the last thing I bought. This is becoming a real problem now that I'm in two book clubs. Recent terrific books include The Satanic Verses, Transatlantic, Where'd You Go Bernadette, and The Round House.

From a music standpoint, I have a soft spot for lesbian folk music, oldies, showtunes, and newer folk/pop people like Joanna Newsom and Sufjan Stevens.

I love going to the movies and usually bring my own popcorn. When the stars align and some combination of Whoopi Goldberg, Sally Field, and Kathy Najimy is in a movie, I am very happy. I'm also a sucker for a cheesy romantic comedy when I'm on a plane. From a TV standpoint, I'm loving The Good Wife and Suits, and have a very soft spot for Grey's Anatomy.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Air travel and the ability to fly away on a whim
2. "$100,000 Pyramid" reruns
3. Running shoes
4. A strong fan when I sleep
5. Newspapers, magazines and books in their proper, paper formats
6. Activities requiring stamina
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why so many people think it's acceptable to text or read email while walking up and down the subway stairs. Why I should be running more. Where to fly next weekend.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm equally happy staying in as I am going out, so it's most likely very relaxed dinner or drinks with friends at home or out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I will write someone off if they're wearing those Transition lenses that get dark in sunlight. I recognize that this is extremely catty.
