Authenticity makes me happy. I’ve learned there’s no sense putting up a front nor surrounding yourself with people who do.
The sight of a car driving by with a dog sticking its head out the window makes me happy. I want to put together a picture book of just this!
Accomplishing goals makes me happy. It’s important to have successes that you can look back on and look forward to. I have very specific career goals for the next 3 years, and outside of work I am preparing for the Series 65 exam to become a registered investment advisor.
Good restaurants make me happy, especially the non-chain variety.
Family makes me happy. They can be a quirky bunch but I know from experience who I can count on when things get turned upside down.
Figuring out how stuff works makes me happy. Especially when it comes to computers, nutrition, and human behavior.
Introspection makes me happy. I think the entire world would be better off if more people took the time to unplug every once in a while. It can be meditation, yoga, journaling, a flotation tank… anything that involves some quiet solitude to reflect on your actions and intentions.
Sarcasm makes me happy, but the clever kind. Not the mean kind. It annoys me when people take good qualities to the extreme. Yes, spontaneity is fun, but not if it makes someone an unreliable flake. Yes, honesty is vital, but it doesn’t give someone a license to be tactless. A tough message can and should be delivered with courtesy and respect.
Women make me happy. Most of the time! But the challenge is worth it. Life is best experienced with someone special.
