My Self-Summary

(some of the blue text are actual links)

I am an altogether ordinary and extra-ordinary, sometimes sad, thoughtful or angry, but mostly happy, contradictory complex and rationally emotional being.

And yet, that is not contradictory at all.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

(Robert Frost)

I am passionate about what's important to me. I know who I am and what I want. I've made my misstakes and moved on.
I am done making excuses. 'Meek' is a four letter word!

I'm a down to earth "spacebrain", practical, crafty with an endless stream of ideas and projects, which I mostly see through :-)

I can be full of mischief, at other times reserved. I like building psychotic snowmen and to pay my bills on due time.

I paint. I study philosophy academically. I engage in politics. I believe in science. I participate to save the environment. I need to be in the nature every so often. I love animals. I'm addicted to dancing. I crave theater, art and books. I enjoy good food (as long as I don't have to cook) and good wine.
I can't help indulging myself to occasional shoppingorgies.

I deeply disapprove of any kind of fundamentalism and "sacred cows". Most things can and should be questioned and retried, including my own ideas and opinions.

I still believe in combining romantic adventures with serious committment within one and the same relationship.
Late at night I toss and I turn, and I dream of what I need.
A man who, like me, has the ability to feel to the full, who's sensible and sensitive in a harmonious balance.
An intellectual and educated man, fun and romantic, who is zealous about life, art and thoughts.
A man with whom I can have stimulating, educated discussions about arts, philosophy and politics, a man who also has the ability to sweep me off my feet on moon-lit nights, kissing me like I'm prescious.
A man who will dance with me, travel at times and who is eager to broaden his horizon.
A man who is secure enough in his manhood to see beyond obsolete gender roles.
A man who loves me when I'm serious as well. A man who is actually interested in me enough to try to find out my "effanineffable, deep and inscrutable Name".

Such a man I would consider something romantic with.

What I’m doing with my life

In a perfect world, my artistic and literary genius would be fully recognized and I would spend my time painting, writing and reading.

Ahem.

I have temporarily been bringing home the broccoli by working at a nursing home, between University courses, painting and politics.

While I am determined not to let a recent diagnosis of fibromyalgia cripple me, it has forced me to now take a step back and look over my priorities. More regrouping will take place before new plans for the future can be mapped out.

Health and environment are important to me, I'm vegetarian and I take my vitamins every day like a good girl.
I'm quite anal in my strive to buy healthy, organic and climate smart foods.

I try to exercise daily, but it's not like I'm training for the Olympics or anything. I strive to take dance classes, go to the gym and take long walks e.g. but with my condition as of late, that simply cannot be done every day.

In lack of a garden, I like spending time growing house plants. I adore orchids.

Other than that I'm just trying to live as best I can, to do right by my self and others, and to feel good.

I’m really good at

Analyzing and solving problems.

Listening.

Finding something to trip over.

A good friend of mine, whom I met through OKC, recently said;
You have a great way of putting things directly, but still gently. It's a rare gift.

That is one of the nicer things anyone's said to me.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes and my laughter.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Can't pick any one book.... love them all actually, even the bad ones... the dusty smell in a library, the feel of a brand new copy against my curious fingertips...

Artists (painters); Chagall, van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, the impressionists, the Skagen-painters because of the light, also art deco, Klimt of course, and the stricter style of Mucha. Abstract art, like Malevich e.g.

"Happiness just isn't happiness without a violin-playing goat."

Film; drama/adventure, and "foreign" (i.e. non-American) film, Kusterica is brilliant, and so is Swe film director Josef Fares. Other favorites are Ang Lee, Joe Wright, Lasse Hallström and Milos Forman. Absolutely loved British "The Full Monty". I enjoy very much the cartoon oldies from Disney and Warner Bros. and the BBC adaptions of the classics.
But also it is very much a question of mood.

A slighty embarrassing fact is that I've seen Walt Disney's "Cinderella" probably one hundred times by now, and I always cry at the end.

I will listen to most types of music, whether I'll enjoy it is another matter. I'm picky and moody musicwise, but I like pop/rock, latin, punk and metal.
Up the Irons!!

Vegetarian, non-swedish food (other than swe pancakes yum!), maroccan, greek, cajun e.g.

The six things I could never do without

1. Artistmaterial
2. Books
3. ...ehh...
4. Hm?
5. ..well, maybe my... nah...
6. nope, that's it.

...well...ok....shoes...
Other things that I wouldn't want to be without are flowers, kittens and films.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Politics, justice and responsibility...what makes people tick...
Hypothetical universa... the meaning of certain words and their implications....

Oh yeah...and shoes.

"If women are supposed to be less rational and more emotional at the beginning of our menstrual cycle when the female hormone is at its lowest level, then why isn't it logical to say that, in those few days, women behave the most like the way men behave all month long?" (G. Steinem)

"No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible." (Voltaire)

I journal some here (and some elsewhere) on what is on my mind at present.

On a typical Friday night I am

Working or painting or seeing friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I once picked a fight with a cactus. It wasn't named 'Jack'.

The cactus won.

True story, I still have the scars to prove it.

Also, I like vanilla.

You should message me if

You want to tell me something of substance, or you have read my entire profile and you think you fit the above description or you think we have things in common and want to be my friend.

Disclaimer: If I don't already know you from the journals, the chance of me replying is very slim. And if you have 'intelligent', inteligant', 'entillegent' or some such as one of your adjectives, the chance that I will reply is nil. Also, I do not reply to copypaste messages. At all.
