My self-summary
I am very happy with my life and I am looking for someone to share it with.

I was born in Quito, Ecuador.

I love living in Brooklyn. I am a firm believer in a small carbon footprint so that our grandchildren won't inherit an earth depleted of resources and polluted because of our past overindulgences. It is the main reason that I am vegan. I try to compost as much as I can.

I am a CSA member because I believe in local sustainable fresh food.

I love to cook especially those CSA veggies.

I love the opera and try to go about twice a year or more. I like to go to outdoor concerts in the park in the summer and to small venues like Barbes to listen to local or indie artists.

As much as I love the city I need to escape once every few weeks to the great outdoors to go hiking, climbing, backpacking, camping or skiing. I love the winter!

I have degrees in Math and Physics and I can talk for hours on end about politics, religion, physics, math, international affairs, monetary policy, biology, ethics, etc. I have a very broad mind. I love learning.

I love to learn languages.

I am a very polite guy who will walk a girl all the way home, even if home is all the way on the other side of the planet.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a freelance IT consultant for small businesses in NYC. I am in my free time taking on the challenge of starting a company with a friend of mine. It is something that I have never done.
I’m really good at
Languages, math and physics.

I am very good at making friends with all sorts of different people. I have so many friends that I might start an adoptafriends.com website where strangers can adopt my neglected friends and go out to dinner with them. If you are interested in adopting one of my friends please message me and let me know which one you would like. They all have their shots and are well behaved.

I am very good at figuring out puzzles and logistics.

Lately, giving weddings toasts.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have an accent. That is usually followed by the question of which country in Eastern Europe do I come from?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books? Who reads books nowadays!!! Just kidding. I love non-fiction over fiction, but if the book is good, it doesn't matter. As I updated this I am reading Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. It is a compilation of stories about extraordinary women who fight against poverty and oppression around the world of other women. It is a beautiful uplifting book.

Magazines? The Economist, New Scientist, Foreign Affairs, Discover, Backpacker, Der Spiegel (auf Deutsch).

Movies? Mostly stuff with subtitles. I grew up reading subtitles so it doesn't bother me. I love French films. The Swimming Pool is amazing, the Closet and My Wife is an Actress are hilarious. Jeux d'Enfants is a beautiful film with a great ending. My favorite films of all time is Blade Runner.

Music? I love all types of music. I can probably not name you the current top ten artists or even the ones from a year ago but I love music.

Shows? I love the theater. Best play so far was Diary of Madman with Geoffrey Rush. I also love the Opera. Go at least twice a year.

Food? I am vegan. I love vegetables, mushrooms, beans and nuts. I don't have much love for fake meat, although I will eat it. My favorite food in the world is Sri Lankan. Banana blossom and jackfruit curries are heaven to me.

TV? I have fallen in love with Game of Thrones; so graphic, raw and well scripted! Love Fringe, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly.
The six things I could never do without
Family especially my beautiful little nieces Sofia and Danica.
Buba, my dog (she lives with my parents nowadays)
Friends
Outdoor sports
NY Times
Laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Foreign policy, how access to fresh water will alter world politics and lead to wars in the future, fair trade, new languages to learn, countries that I want to visit, mountains that I want to climb, friends that I haven't seen in a very long time.
On a typical Friday night I am
Having dinner with my friends, visiting MOMA, the Met or the Gugg, listening to some music, hanging out at a bar full of Germans or often driving up to the Adirondacks or the White Mountains to go hiking on Saturday.

Or just staying at home cooking dinner and drinking wine.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I admit to this then it won't be private anymore, isn't that a paradox?
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 25–35
  • Near me
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
If you love living in the city but you also have an outdoorsy spirit and you want to go hiking, backpacking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing or climbing with me once every few weeks for the weekend.

You like the idea of spending a quiet Friday evening at home cooking with me, listening to music and falling asleep watching a Netflix movie in bed.

You don't mind that I am a vegan.

You love languages. Plus you don't mind the fact that my family is a little bit like the UN. You will hear during one holiday dinner party with my family English, Spanish, Russian, Croatian, Italian and German spoken at the table.

You love to travel and you don't mind if we stay at a fancy hotel or at the lonely planet guide's recommendation for a cheap hostel as long we are having fun. The idea of visiting the most remote little places on Earth where no one speaks a word of a language you know excites you.

Finally you value honesty in a relationship, you know what it takes to make things work in the long run and you are looking for someone to settle down with.
