I'm a geek. I just don't think there is anyway to get around that.
When I was 10, I was obsessed with the
X-Men and collected comic books. The
only books I read were sci-fi or fantasy. When I was in high
school, I was that girl that skipped lunch every day to read in the
library, got disgustingly good grades without trying and was always
the teacher's pet. I was extremely shy and meek and my high school
experience might had been pretty terrible, but I also had purple
hair, a large variety of facial piercings and wore very thick
eyeliner, so my small-town classmates weren't entirely sure what to
make of me.
As I've gotten older, I have yet to become cooler. I have less
piercings now, so the geekiness is probably much more obvious. I
play
World
of Warcraft sometimes, adore anything by
Terry Pratchett and I named my
daughter after one of the X-Men and my first roleplaying
character.
I am a compulsive crafter and have dabbled in almost everything -
knitting,
spinning,
crochet,
sewing... I want to learn so
much more, but as it is, I am terrible about starting what I
finish.
I love all animals, particularly cats, of which I own three. If it
were up to me, we would own a small zoo. I just can't say no to
animals.
At the moment, my life is terribly boring. I moved from the States
with my daughter to live with my Norwegian husband, so I'm really
working on learning Norwegian. Okay, sort of working. Hoping that
the bulk will be done by osmosis.
I'm quite good at most things involving yarn - knitting, crochet,
and spinning. I keep trying to tell my husband that we would be
SAVING money if we bought several sheep and alpacas, but he really
isn't buying it.
I'm a very restless, random person. I fidget a lot and jump from
one topic to the next. People are always asking, "What made you
think of THAT?"
My favorite books are
Saving Fish From
Drowning,
The God of Animals,
Like The
Red Panda,
Good
Omens,
Ordinary People,
Neverwhere,
She's Come
Undone, the Wolfwalker series by
Tara K. Harper... as a general
rule, if it's depressing, or fantasy, I'll love it.
I don't really watch a lot of movies, but I've liked
The Hours,
Indiana Jones (all of
them),
Star Wars
(old ones),
Moulin Rouge,
The Truth About
Cats and Dogs and
Mystery Men.
I listen to
Tori
Amos,
Rilo
Kiley,
Fleetwood Mac,
Rob Zombie,
Patty Griffin,
Sarah Mclachlan,
Indigo Girls,
Tegan and
Sara,
Annie
Lennox,
The
Killers,
Counting Crows...
Hmm...

Friday nights are our movie nights. Everyone puts on pajamas, I
usually bake something and my daughter picks out a movie for all of
us to watch. I'm a party animal.
I have lupus and chronic fatigue syndrome.
If you're reading this, you should message me. Seriously. Don't be
a coward and go on to something else. I mean, I do it too, but I'm
SHY, so it's okay.
