My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
What can I tell you about myself? I'm not settled. I enjoy being outdoors. I wonder where life will take me.

That's not really the only thing you wanna see up here, though. You want something with more substance. Okay, I'll give it another go.

I grew up back east in a decently small town in Virginia. College took 11 semesters spread between three different schools before I escaped with my multifunctional General Studies degree. Yay for student loans.

Since college, I've moved around a good bit. There were a couple of volunteer years in there along with a few I-think-this-is-where-I-belong ventures. When the dust settled I'd lived in Colorado, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Oregon, California, and now I'm in Illinois for the next adventure.

So the roaming goes on. I'm a full-time volunteer again. It's not exactly what I was hoping to do next, but it fit enough criteria and it kept me from burning out at my last job. It's starting to grow on me, though it keeps me on the road a lot and that can get tiresome.

As for this OK Cupid account, I originally got on here because I needed a date for a particular evening. Now it's a way to connect to a larger community around me that I wouldn't otherwise be able to find.

So, if you want to drop me a line because you think I might be entertaining, willing to banter, or a smart-ass, then fire away! It's worth noting that I'm not looking for a serious relationship right now. Circumstances don't seem to be in my favor these days. I'm also not a huge fan of Chicagoland. Yeah, it's growing on me a bit, but it seems ridiculous to try to find a long-term connection in a place you aren't interested in inhabiting very long. So, there's that.

*Editor's note: I answered most of the questions part of this site when I was living in CA so not all of the explanations may make sense anymore.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a volunteer working on recruiting people to give a year or more of their life to also volunteer so they can destroy their concepts of cultural norms, status quo, and keeping up with the Joneses.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Let's change this to "I really enjoy". It sounds less conceited.

Hiking until the day is done and then some
Wearing hats
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out! that I'm human. Not once has anyone ever mistaken me for a penguin, squirrel, or salamander. I must be a pretty standard-looking specimen.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Running shoes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game. I fit into this world. I feel like I do alright with living a moderately simple lifestyle. Still, I find myself often trying to figure out how to make life even simpler (that doesn't necessarily mean easier) while still serving the world in some capacity or another.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
...probably hanging out at the house. I might also be on the road for my job which opens up the options a lot.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out! that I actually kinda enjoy meeting people on this site - online or in person. Please don't tell anyone; it's kinda embarrassing.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over. can spell at least most of the words in your message correctly and can demonstrate some basic knowledge of using punctuation. A pulse is a major plus. Holler my way if you have at least a sliver of humility or modesty within your demeanor. You should enjoy eating. It's gonna suck if you don't have at least a mild appreciation for sarcasm and smart-ass commentary. All things told, the pulse is probably the most important component. Message away, dude.
