I am curious, philosophical, and optimistic.
My Self-Summary
I am a terrible typist so there will probably be a few typos,
forgive me.
I am an only child, I was born in Washington (state), but from
there my parents moved me all over the country till I finally ended
up in Iowa. My parents though, are awesome, I have always gotten
along with them; I guess I don't really have one of those broken
home stories.
I love the
outdoors, if I am
camping,
fishing,
hiking, or
biking chances are I'm happy.
I am
agnostic,
but I don't think that an individual's religion is particularly
important. Everyone has the right answer for their own lives and
its none of my business. That said I like talking about religion,
I'm just not out to change minds.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm hoping to learn as much as I can and grow as much as I can
while I can.
I’m really good at
I have a large vocabulary
I'd like to think I'm creative
I'm fairly eloquent
I have a head full of useless information... Maybe some day I'll be
on Jeopardy
I'm a very logical person
I can lift heavy things
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a big smile and messy hair.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
(A) I'm going to go with authors: Kurt Vonnegut, Greg Egan, Max
Barry, George Orwell, Jared Diamond, Thomas Freidman, Jose
Villareal (Pocho changed my life), Greg Bear, Arthur Clarke, Thomas
Pynchon
(B) In no particular order: City of Lost Children, Fear and
Loathing in Los Vegas, La Haine, Schindler's List, The Battle of
Algiers, Goodbye Lenin!, Donny Darko... many others, I watch lots
of movies Netflix is my friend.
(C) Third Eye Blind, Keane, Motion City Soundtrack, Ok Go, Kill
Hannah, Ambulance Ltd., Iron and Wine, on and on...
(D) I'll try anything once and very rarely find something I don't
like, my favorites are Japanese, Vietnamese, and Indian. But I
really love to cook and if you could see my messy kitchen you would
have no doubt that I do an awful lot of it. I really like wine.
The six things I could never do without
Books, Education,
NPR,
Spring, Fall, the Outdoors
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future, I don't really worry about it, I'm more excited to see
what will happen more than anything else.
I always like thinking about religion, politics, and deeper things
but its really more fun to chat about those than think about them
by yourself.
On a typical Friday night I am
With a small group of friends, probably doing something
unproductive or geeky. If not that I'm cooking or watching a movie,
or both. On occasion I am off drinking.
Once in a great while I'll throw a dinner party and cook for a
bunch of friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I know its terribly unfashionable, but I really don't want
children, I don't know if I ever will.
You should message me if
Message me for whatever reason you like, I love talking and you
won't weird me out. That said if you can't carry on a cogent
conversation about politics, religion, art (i use that term
broadly), food, or science we probably don't have a lot to talk
about.
