My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
UPDATE: I'm looking for two things right now. The first is the normal dating thing that we're all on here for, but I'm also looking for a potential travel partner for the following: Next summer I will be renting a car for two months or so for a cross-country road trip. The emphasis will be on local food and the weird sides of local American culture with healthy doses of exploring America's cities and national parks. We'd be mostly camping and crashing at friends' places. I want a travel buddy and someone to split gas money with. You'd need to be free for a couple of months over the summer, and we'd need to get along really well, which is why I'm looking for this so far in advance.

I moved to DC from Chicago two years ago, and it still doesn't quite feel like home, but it's getting there. What I'm looking for more than anything is a good friend to explore the city and get drinks with.

I just got out of a relationship, so I'm not yet looking for anything serious; I'm mostly looking for intelligent, cute, fun friends.

I like people who are both intellectual and also crave new experiences and buck social norms.

I have a lot of traits that seem on the surface to be self-contradictory. I'm a cynic and a romantic, a hedonist and an intellectual. I want to meet someone with whom I can enjoy all the great things that are already in my life.

I'm an aspiring writer and philosopher. I'm almost always a bit restless and quite the skeptic and cynic, but as my friends can attest to, beneath the nihilistic exterior is someone to whom things matter a great deal.

I try as best I can to be in solidarity with Feminists, Queers, Proletarians, and everyone else working for equality and a just society.

If you want to go to an art museum or gallery with me, let me know. One can never get too much art, as far as I am concerned. We could talk about Rothko or Francis Bacon and their relationship to philosophy or surrealism and Foucault.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching philosophy to undergrads. Other than that I'm usually reading, looking for new art, drinking bourbon, or exploring the city on bike, foot, and the metro. I also plan on doing a lot of traveling this (every!) year.

Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls is achingly good.

I dislike judging people (and being judged) based on patterns of consumption, although if you love Henry Miller and/or Anais Nin, we'll probably get along just fine.

You want to throw caution to the wind and have an adventure. Please be open minded. Please do not be judgmental. Intelligence and a willingness to reject oppressive cultural norms are pluses.
