My self-summary
I sit comfortably along the spaces between music, intellectual pursuits, dancing, food making, counselling, community organizing, being a present friend.

I love people, and non-human animals, trees, rocks and the soil.

I bike all year round.

I like silly jokes, and have a rather juvenile sense of humour.

I like climbing trees, playing in the mud

One of my favourite qoutes is " Do not compete with pigs in mud, because, one they will win and two they will enjoy it all"

I play soccer, enjoy running.

I believe strongly that life is a series of moments ( or some kind of imperfect bean pod) some we enjoy, some we will never want to relive, some we will never forget, some will fizzle at the instant they are opened.

I would describe myself as queer and I relate with others from that queer space, but I take the label of straight/hetero because I live the privileges of presenting so.

I have always dreamed of another world, and the possibility of that world within the one I find myself. I believe in acting for social change, challenging all forms of oppression ( homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, capitalist exploitation, colonization, ableism...), as well as unlearning where I find myself implicated. I am committed to these struggles.

These struggles define who I am and I enjoy being part of them. I am happiest when I am doing decolonization work, dancing, homeschooling my son ( who is too brilliant to be in school), cooking for family ( chosen and biological), playing mbira, marimba and drums and singing.

I am interested in meeting folks who are open.

We can still connect if we have other interests in common, i.e political organizing, academic research and music ( which are one and the same thing to me).
What I’m doing with my life
I remain a learner, sometimes i learn in institutions , sometimes i learn among people and the elements that make up the earth.

I love fully and wanna continue being an authentic lover. I make myself available for thos I love and care about.

Music and storytelling is my life, both listening, playing and teaching.
I take social justice seriously and I do that work happily.

I home school a beautiful son and most of the time, i know I am the one who is benefiting from the learning.

I enjoy bringing people together, cook, starting conversations, asking questions. I am learning to create. I grew up in the bush, and am building a village in the bush. Working on a play/theatre musical that we are launching in March.

I dance and dance and dance and dance everywhere... I used to live in peterbough ( I went to Trent, that makes me cool right...lol) and someone who saw me randomly dancing on the street regularly named me the Street Dancer.
I’m really good at
Chilling, asking uncomfortable, provocative questions,
thinking outside the left, dancing, cooking, playing music, thinking a lot, being compassionate, facilitating conversations, deep listening, loving, caring...

I have not lost a single game of fusball in Toronto.
The first things people usually notice about me
Smile, genuine smile. Mint tea flask. Random acts, singing, and deep brown eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Matigari, theoretical stuff, Fanon, Cabral, All Ngugi, bell hooks, Angela Davis, Andrea Smith. I love reading theory and ideas on how to create new sensibilities. Imagination is my big thing at the moment, and anything that will help that part of me to grow I will read.
The six things I could never do without
mint tea, music, love, friends, chosen and biological family, good food, good consensual sex, laughter, good conversations
I spend a lot of time thinking about
social change and how to make that happen, health, living in the bush, building, love, the idea of consent, how to live without causing pain. feminisms, partiarchy, indigeneity, race, heteronormativity, privilege, decolonization, friends, being present, emotional brilliance, relationships ( people, earth, sexual, familial, friends, political, national etc), good food and how to make it. Our play that we are launching in March. Stories and how to tell them. Mbira music, dance choreography...
On a typical Friday night I am
