I am funny, free-spirited, and far from average.

My Self-Summary

I would love to say I'm the girl I always thought I'd be, but that's not entirely true. I can say that everyday I get closer and closer to being that woman, though. That's what my life has been about this past year: becoming who I want to be.

Music is my drug of choice, and the written word is my chaser.

I'm an NPR junkie.

I'm a tomboy, but I have a well-developed girly side. I love all kinds of things, and I'm always up for a challenge. I love watching and playing sports, movies, live music, good tv, and great conversation.

I must admit, I'm a bit of a smartass. It comes from being around children for forty hours a week. All my snark and wit get stored up throughout the week and I have to let it out when I'm home.

I'll try anything twice, unless it kills me the first time.

I firmly believe that you start to die as soon as you stop learning. I love learning new things and deepening my knowledge of subjects I'm familiar with. I'm always up for a debate, and I've been known to play devil's advocate on occasion when I'm in the mood.

I have a fairly vast knowledge base and I love strange little tidbits and facts.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently working in the public schools in special education. I've been in OKC for a year and change now, and it's finally starting to feel like somewhere I can call home.

I still feel like I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life, but I'm enjoying the ride just the same.

I'm seriously considering going back to school and getting a Master's in Library Science in the next couple of years.

I’m really good at

Listening, finding the bright side of just about any situation, and playing on words.

Music has been a passion of mine for a long time, I'm pretty good at that too.

I've been told I'm damn good at giving massages and that I have a relaxing presence as well.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile and my crazy curly hair. Or, when I wear green, my eyes.

Other than that, you'll have to let me know.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm a big fan of all four!

Books: I love anything that's written well. Some of my favorite books are The Harry Dresden files by Jim Butcher, The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia-Marquez, Animals in Translation by Temple Grandin, Bonk by Mary Roach...there are just so many. I'm very open-minded when it comes to books.

Movies and TV: Again, I'm an all-genre girl. I am willing to see just about anything, and I probably won't hate it. I love The Man From Snowy River, Sliding Doors, Grosse Pointe Blank, Seven, Boondock Saints, Ocean's Eleven (old and new), Hairspray, Iron Man, and Casablanca. I also watch a fair bit of television. I hate reality TV, and I love well-written shows with enough quirk to get canceled right when they hit their stride. Arrested Development, Chuck, Eureka, Firefly, Pushing Daisies, and the Mentalist are some of my faves. Oh, and How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory. They make my Mondays better. There are of course guilty pleasures here, too.

Music: I tend towards the mellow side of the spectrum for the everyday but, as with everything else, there's very little music I loathe. I love Queen, James Taylor, Dave Matthews, KT Tunstall, Janis Joplin, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Jason Mraz, Garth Brooks, Splashdown, Foo Fighters, State Radio, Seal, Foo Fighters, anything that makes me nostalgic, and on and on. There are also MANY guilty pleasure songs, but you'll have to find those out later.

Food-wise, I'll try anything (are we sensing a trend here?). I love sushi, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, and a really good sandwich.

The six things I could never do without

a good book, paper and pen, my friends, water, and music.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Everything really. My mind is always going ninety to nothing. I tend to be a bit of a worrier, but I'm working on that. When I get a spare minute, I often think about strange things.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with friends at a bar, concert, open mic night, movie, ball game...

I like routines well enough, but I try not to have the same weekend over and over.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've seen every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And Angel. And Firefly. Oh, and Dollhouse. If you know what all those shows have in common...you earn bonus points.

You like what you see, or you feel like getting your ass kicked in a trivia contest. If you have a piece of random trivia to share, I'd love to hear it.
