My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
see below.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
When I'm not crying myself to sleep on a tear-stained pillow from the sheer, pathetic loneliness that is my life, I'm on the internet, pretending to be someone I'm not (but someone I'd like to be).
Actually, between the tears, the lies, and the sarcasm, my life is really pretty awesome. Just bought a pair of skis (making the switch from a snowboard) and looking forward to an epic winter. Have also taken up squash for a winter sport. Am terrible at it, but you wouldn't know it to hear me trash talking on the court.
Working at the best job I've ever had, and just interviewed for an even more interesting position starting next year. Don't feel like typing out the details, you'll get an earful if/when we meet.
Watching cartoons.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
forgetting peoples names...and faces. I once convinced someone that I'd had a small stroke after I'd (re-)introduced myself one too many times :l
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
probably the single white hair in my eyebrow that I refuse to pluck....or maybe my over-inflated insecurity. They go hand in hand, really.

Wait...maybe I Should pluck it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books
Just now getting into some Charles Bukowski (late bloomer).
Love Louis de Bernieres novels. So dark, so witty.
My favourite reads are mostly dry, dark, witty, funny novels: Catch22, Diceman, The War of Don Emmanuel's Netherparts, Kurt Vonnegut
But also really like heart-wrenchingly sad drama: A Fine Balance, Time Travellers Wife, Roots, all of Steinbeck's novels
Am trying to intersperse my reading with more non-fiction these days. Mostly psychology, anthropology or health care related stuff. Wade Davis is a personal favourite, The Wisdom of Whores was amazing. I've enjoyed a lot of the CBC Massey lectures, also Jared Diamond, Gabor Mate. Always looking for suggestions from lovers of books.
TV & Movies
Mad Men, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Frisky Dingo, Louis, Girls, Jon Stewart and Colbert, and basically any cartoon show. I have a somewhat stressful job and really enjoy vegging out to mindless cartoons and comedy. Oh, and I love stand up Comedy... Louis CK is the king, Maria Bamford is also great, but I like tons of other stuff. new, old, doesn't matter. funny matters.
Again I love clever cartoon movies (The Incredibles, Fantastic Mr.Fox, etc), old gangster stuff (Casino, Donnie Brasco), beautifully made fables, like Pan's Labrynth or Big Fish, anything by Pedro Almodovar, or Jean Pierre Jeunet, and almost anything starring Gael Garcia Bernal. Adaptation and Life is Beautiful are way up there too....And any decently made documentary is worthwhile. I just saw 'The Imposter' and would recommend it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
air
food
water
shelter
clothing
hiding behind a wall of sarcasm and self-deprecation as a cover for my emotional insecurities.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
living in a cartoon world where we are all just caricatures of ourselves
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
drinkin', cussin' & fightin'
maybe petting the cat
(^not a euphemism. a cat lives here)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I know that i am already a great, and whole, and perfect and wonderful person, but am too scared to really own it.
