I like media.... This pithy section speaks little about who anyone
is as a person. Just because I don't have something referenced,
does not mean I do not appreciate it. Also just because I say I
like deep house doesn't mean I like every piece of mundane techno
that made you dislike electronic music. I like good media If I
don't know your favourite band or movie, then that just means you
have something to share with me.
Mainly non-fiction (social studies,
science, marketing, design, typography, art, advertising) and some
crime fiction. Got a large collection of graphic novels, and books
about art and design. Oh then my vast and ever growing burden of
cook books spilling out of every nook and cranny. - Haruki
Murakami, Jasper Fforde, Malcolm Gladwel, Richard Dawkin, Jared
Diamond, Carl Hiaasen, Laura Penny, Katherine Dunn, Mark Haddon
(just finished - Ready Player One by Ernest Cline). I keep picking
up kavalier and clay with the best intentions to read it, but find
my self distracted with things like playing with my toes and never
get past page 10.
Blogs and Radio: Boing Boing
, Laughing Squid
, Not Cot
, Life Hacker
, Nordic Food Lab
- listen to CBC radio 1 every
day for much of the day, Quirks and Quarks, Spark, and Under the
Influence are my favorite shows.
Movies and TV:
Dystopian scifi, documentaries,
dramas and thrillers. There are more great shows and movies then I
can think of. However I tend to stay away from reality TV, cop
shows and low brow comedies. I am totally a giant geek consume
perhaps too much media and love it, so some current shows would
include Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Hit and Miss, Suits, Orphan
Black, Defiance, Arctic Air, Daily Show, Top Chef, Parts Unknown,
Archer, Mad Men, The Americans, The Newsroom, Parks and Rec.
Deep house, Motown, Soul, Funk, Hard Rock,
Bossanova, Classic Rock, Industrial, Golden Oldies, stuff that was
cool in the 70's, 80's and 90`s, Disco, Retro, Rock, Grunge, and a
whole lot more. One of my computers has something like 119 days of
consecutive music on it so... where to even start. Lately I have
been listening to a bunch of Maceo Plex, Todd Terje, Motor City
Drum Ensemble, Nicolas Jaar, Dimitri from Paris, Ian Pooley, Frank
Oceans, Fiest, The Lovebirds and Korean girls playing
covers of hipster songs on the ukulele
. Every so often there
is a strong need to play some Kate Bush, KMFDM, MGMT, Little
Dragon, Otis, Blackbox, Pearl Jam or old Chilly Peppers.
I used to be a grunger then a raver and the range between them only
scratches the surface of what I'm bound to like.
Dairy, cereal, fresh bread, organic meats,
sweet stuff. (you are what you eat eh?) Shellfish is just about the
only thing I can’t eat. I love my latte machine, my deep fryer
doesn't get used often enough. I cook a lot, seldom if ever use
recipes anymore. Knowing food and cooking is really imperative to
my job and something I enjoy nerding out on. Spring and summer
means lots of slow cooked bbq, fancy salads and spicy food. Best
thing about food is cooking a special meal for a special someone
and watching them enjoy it. Maybe you should have me cook for you?
That sounds like a good date.
There are lots of adorable vegans out there. I am not one of
you and have no interest in pandering to your diet. Sorry
