My self-summary
My name's Javier, and I'm a sometimes-shy jack of all trades and casual nerd. I'm a pretty relaxed guy who works to help people, and likes to think about all the things still left to learn. I'm currently in an open relationship with the cool dude PenguinJustice, but not actively looking for anything at the moment beyond people to hang out with.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm excited to be going back to school after a semester-long break! It's a season of change, and I can't wait to see what happens!
I’m really good at
Figuring things out, logically and emotionally. I'm curious about everything and it manifests in various ways: from learning to resolve personal conflicts by becoming a trained mediator to wondering how those damn Match vs Friend vs Enemy ratings work.

I'm also pretty good at whistling tunes that get stuck in my head, and I've been told I have an excellent voice for audiobooks.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I LOVE Hispanic food. Salvadoran food is close to my heart, but I'll eat most anything from Central or South America. Except seafood. I also love Indian, and I'll eat anything with rice.

Books: Some good ones are On Writing (nonfiction; Stephen King), Duma Key (mystery/horror; also King), Michael Tolliver Lives (LGBT fiction; Armistaud Maupin), The Tipping Point (nonfiction; Malcolm Gladwell), The Elegant Universe (nonfiction; Brian Greene), and The Tale of Despereaux (children's fiction; Kate DiCammillo). I've also enjoyed the Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and The Lord of the Rings books.

Homestuck!

Video games: I'm definitely a Nintendo fan, even though I don't play games often enough to consider myself a "serious" gamer. I'll kick your ass at Smash Bros (Brawl), though. Oh, and I've been playing lots of Dota 2 recently.

I play Magic: the Gathering, and I'm always willing to teach new people how to play.

I can't say movies and TV shows are a big part of my life, and my music collection is a mess, so you'd have to ask for those favorites!
The six things I could never do without
1. Hugs.
2. A pen in my pocket. Pens are damn useful things.
3. [Obligatory friends and family]
4. Good stories. Mainly webcomics, novels, and good video games.
5. My sanity.
6. The game Humans vs Zombies, founded at Goucher College: http://humansvszombies.org/

The rest I can figure out as I go along.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
You'd have to ask what I'm thinking about on any given week. My motto is "All things in moderation--including moderation." Among other things, it serves as an excuse for how I manage to get interested in so many different things and still not know what I'm doing with my life!
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably hanging out with friends in some corner of campus. I like to be in smaller groups of people having fun, or having those late-night philosophical debates on life.

I'm general, I like hiking and walking around, but I'm not very good at finding reasons to do it. I'm also really out of shape at the moment, though that wouldn't stop me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I dance when I think no one's watching. Oh, and I'm terrified of zombies.

  • Ages 18–22
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
Walt Whitman once said, "Do I contradict myself? So I contradict myself // I am large // I contain multitudes," and I think a truer statement has never been made. If that makes you curious, we should talk.
