My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey, so I'm Monica. Phew, Glad we got that out of the way.
During the school year I teach art at an elementary in dallas.. it's rewarding but requires long tiring days (550 kids will do that to you). I get to act like a kid most of the time and create art everyday. I love it. I was also voted teacher of the year last year so I guess I am decent at my job.

During the summer, I am usually recuperating from the school year, and traveling to visit friends or family abroad. I still want to travel to peru, europe, and more of asia. Next summer.

At home, I'm usually found in the kitchen cooking or baking (I am an omnivore, and I just cannot find myself saying no to meat), or cuddling with my dog (a boxer pit bull mix). She's 5, and still acts like a puppy. We have been known to terrorize white rock lake chasing after tennis balls and scaring off nutriya and coyotes.

I'm kind of scatterbrained, a little weird, and very un-organized...maybe even a bit messy. But I at least know where everything is.. most of the time. I'm trying to be better about it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
teaching kids art, reading, staying afloat, thinking about my next big step, and enjoying the day to day.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
cooking, baking, smiling, teaching art, giving hugs, worrying too much, being nervous, being klutzy, falling asleep, forgetting to capitalize letters, wandering around, holding conversations, and laughing at inappropriate moments (i have been told my timing on this matter is pretty impeccable).

oh and procrastinating. yeah. definitely that.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
that i'm short, asian, and...i like to smile and laugh?

I am an avid reader, but now i'm slowing down on my book appetite because of lack of time for my job. I am in an amazing book club that allows me to broaden my literary scope though. Its also a great excuse to drink and eat amazing food and talk to my friends about books. Haha. However I do love all things Palahniuk, Gaiman, Adams. I'm a sucker for a good story.. But I have also closet-loved comic books for some time. Apparently girls arent supposed to like comics?

so as far as movies go, i'm a fan of most genres except war related movies (unless it's character driven). i do have a penchant for comedies, scifi/fantasy, or comic/book related. i'm usually really bad at remembering plots for movies so im content to rewatch a movie a few times.

I'm pretty open to music nowadays. I used to be strictly indie rock, but now I think I like a little bit of everything...maybe except country... i'm still trying.

I love everything that involves food, and spices. I cook a lot so I will try almost everything once. There are only a handful of things I don't think I can ever try again. (Even if your taste buds change every 7 years, i don't think i could ever handle eating sea cucumbers again). Oh, and the spicier the better. If there are noodles involved, I couldn't be happier.
Not to mention, I have a major sweet tooth so I bake lots of treats and other terrifying things for my health. I always share though :)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
pen, paper, a well stocked kitchen, my car, my glasses, and my dog.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How awesome my dog is.
what I should cook next.
School stuff.
wouldn't it be cool if....
the past, present, future, and alternate realities.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
usually relaxing (ok, sleeping) at my house, unwinding after a long week of getting messy in the classroom.

Drinking some kind of alcoholic beverage with friends or coworkers is usually not out of the question either. The alcoholic teacher stereotype I found out is all too real when it comes to fridays.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
a good indication of my nervous level, is directly proportionate to how fidgety/destroyed my napkin/straw wrapper/paper product is on a first encounter. i may be sneaky, and try to hide it under a table, but nevertheless, the poor thing is being mangled in my hands.

you like what you read and have something interesting to say.

please no one liners ie."Hi, how are you?"(lets be real, you're more interesting than that)

you can show me something new.
no pressure. haha.

Do not bother if you speak Ebonics day to day. #realtalk

Actually, I never use hashtags, but I figure it fits.
