My self-summary
Single guy looking to make new friends, have some dates, see what develops. I'm open to meeting like minded guys. I love to laugh, and I try to see humor in almost everything.
I love to travel, see new places. I play piano sometimes, probably not as often as i should. I'm creative and enjoy tinkering around my house.
I have had a long term relationship before, and it was good while it lasted. I don't believe in big sweeping, epic love stories really. Ever read the cliche sonnet by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, "How Do I Love, Thee, Let me Count the Ways"? Everyone likes the first part: I love thee to the depth, breadth, and height my soul can reach when feeling out of sight for the ends of being and ideal grace." That's a lot of love, right? The stuff movies are made of. The second line always gets me: "I love thee to the level of every day's most quiet need by sun and candlelight." Sometimes love is about the little things we share. The little things we do for each other that are small but not insignificant.
What I’m doing with my life
This question feels more like an accusation. "So, what are YOU doing with your life?"
I'm working, getting by, enjoying things day by day.
I’m really good at
Throwing dinner parties. Dabble in gardening. Like to exercise a lot. I'm good at my job. I'm that guy who figured things out for people. Maybe it's because I read instructions?
The first things people usually notice about me
My tattoo. I get comments all the time whenever it's visible. It has no deep underlying significance. It was much easier to go through with it by focusing on a design I liked. I can't imagine a symbol that would represent me for my entire life. Too much pressure.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot of historical fiction but also enjoy chick lit. Don't judge. I also like show tunes. Show tunes and country music. I also love Wait Wait Don't Tell Me on NPR and I follow the podcast. I'm getting into Dr. Who reruns on Netflix. I like good romantic comedies, action, drama. I feel like I don't go to the movies much any more, mostly because I'm not seeing current movies I want to see.
The six things I could never do without
1. my iPhone. I'm addicted. 2. My coffee maker- can't function without a cuppa Joe in the morning. 3. My electric toothbrush. Neurotic flosser too but I don't want to list floss here. That would be creepy. That's only three things. I'm sure there's something else.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Really. I'm
All over the place.
On a typical Friday night I am
Home. Not a big bar guy. Not that I never go out or anything.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a prostate cancer survivor. It's my family curse. Lost my dad and my grandfather to it. My brother and I are survivors. I'm healthy and doing great. No complaints because everything still works. I'm really lucky and very thankful. I suspect this honesty will reduce my response rate. But since that's already rather low, no use worrying about it. It's a part of who I am now.
