My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Originally from the East Coast (MA/NC), I moved to L.A. seven years ago and I’m still having fun here. I got my BFA from an arts conservatory/hippie-wizard school/feral cat colony. Now I live on the East Side, work on television and films, and spend my free time collaborating on other creative projects, or outside in the world/nature, or eating and sleeping probably if you do it by the numbers. People’s dogs and cats like me, and I like them.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I’m an editor/assistant editor on scripted TV shows, movies, and music videos. I also just wrapped production on an independent short film I was directing and producing, so I'll be editing that over the next few months. Basically I'm a self-motivated art nerd trying to navigate the entertainment industry without allowing it to crush my dreams (I'm doomed). I balance my work hours with outdoor time; a lot of hikes, neighborhood walks, bike rides, yoga, beach days, camping, CAMPING (!), and gardening. I'm not really into playing competitive sports but I'm physically active and like to stay healthy.

I love to travel in and outside of the country, there are still a lot of places I want to go... pretty much anywhere I can come back from alive. It’s also important to me that I have outlets for creative expression outside of work like drawing, painting, animation, listening to and playing music, cooking food, making puppets, masks, collaborations with other artists, whatever I happen to be into at that particular moment.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making incredibly modest lists of my best qualities? Learning and trying new things, thinking through problems, making good and bad jokes, interpreting dreams, winning the trust of animals, spotting faces in textures and on inanimate objects (it's called pareidolia), making funny noises with my mouth, doing life stuff (sort of).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Maybe the hair? Then probably that I don't seem like a person that would have a mohawk. It's just hair, y'all.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Forgive me for the length of this next section, it’s like I fell into this rabbit hole and kept going and going. Just skim over it, or put your hand on the screen and see what you get from osmosis. Art is important to me and I hope it is to you. I don’t have favorites. I love everything.

I like the smell of books. J.D. Salinger, Kurt Vonnegut, Mark Twain, Knut Hamsun, Herman Hesse, Tom Robbins, Denis Johnson, Haruki Murakami, Jorge Luis Borges, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsburg, Spalding Gray, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Will Eisner, Brian K. Vaughn, Scott McCloud, Charles Burns, Chris Van Allsburg, Maurice Sendak, Hergé, Lynd Ward, lots of comics and graphic novels, weird kid's books in general, movie and t.v. scripts I work on. Lots of other things I can’t think of right now.

Here's a bunch of people who do stuff I like in absolutely no order. I like (almost) all movies.

Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick, Orson Welles, Federico Fellini, Hal Ashby, David Lean, Elia Kazan, Sergio Leone, David Lynch, Sydney Lumet, Robert Altman, Terry Gilliam, Ralph Bakshi, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, Francois Truffaut, Woody Allen, Tim Burton, The Coen Brothers, Mike Nichols, Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze, Milos Foreman, Buster Keaton, Hayao Miyazaki, Akira Kurosawa, Terrence Malick, Werner Herzog, Fred Zinneman, Robert Enrico, Pedro Almodovar, P.T. Anderson, John Carpenter, Lars Von Trier, Jim Jarmusch, Darren Aronofsky, Miranda July, Mike Mills, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Richard Linklater, Wes Anderson, Sofia Coppola, Guy Maddin, Quentin Dupieux, David Gordon Green, Jan Svankmajer, Chan-wook Park, Nicolas Winding Refn, David Milch, etc.

I didn’t watch a lot of T.V. growing up but there are some pretty cool shows on the air right now.

True Detective, Game of Thrones, The Wire, Twin Peaks, Deadwood, House of Cards, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Rectify, American Horror Story, The Sopranos, Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, The X-Files, The Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Errol Morris’ First Person, This American Life, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Reno 911, Party Down, The Office, Adventures of Pete & Pete, Spaced, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Parks & Recreation, Eastbound & Down, Key & Peele, Home Movies, Futurama, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, Jim Henson anything.

My music taste is pretty broad and eclectic, I think it’s a shame when people limit themselves to just a few narrow genres. I tend to stay away from Top 40, but I can usually find something I like in almost everything. I'm also a big fan of documentary and storytelling podcasts like Radiolab, This American Life, Prairie Home Companion, and The Moth.

60’s rock, jazz, old blues, hip-hop, classical music of all kinds, electro and dance, new wave, some punk/metal, some country and folk, various world music from all over, generally anything strange and unique. Here are some of the big ones in no order:

The Velvet Underground, The Talking Heads, The Pixies, The Flaming Lips, The Walkmen, Beach House, Thee Oh Sees, Kate Bush, Wu Tang Clan, Michael Jackson, Air, The Arcade Fire, Chairlift, The Meat Puppets, The Misfits, Modey Lemon, Le Tigre, Cameo, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Skip James, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bizet, Debussy, Chopin, Copland, Bernard Herrman, George Gershwin, Glenn Gould, Holst, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Cat Power, The Clash, Cream, David Bowie, Gillian Welch, Goblin, Johnny Cash, Lee Hazlewood, The Cure, Justice, Phoenix, Sebastien Tellier, Lovage, Morris Day & The Time, Black Star, Tribe Called Quest, Neil Young, Nirvana, Patsy Cline, Radiohead, Roy Orbison, The Traveling Wilburys, Simon & Garfunkel, Tom Petty, The Beatles, Tom Waits, Stereolab, Tin Hat Trio, The Yardbirds, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Future Islands, Moss of Aura, Peals, Mac DeMarco, John Carpenter soundtracks, Run The Jewels, The War on Drugs, Jan Hammer

Pretty much everything, I was vegetarian for 4 years but now I’m back to being omnivorous and I like it.

Cooking at home (!) I really like to prepare food, especially with friends or romantic partners. I’m not amazing at it or anything but I like to try making new things. It’s like a science experiment you can eat afterwards.

Korean BBQ, Sushi, Pho, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Ethiopian, Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean, French, Southern and Cajun, Vegan and raw foods, Dippin’ Dots Ice-cream of the Future. Really anything, especially things I’ve never tried.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
• Sunlight and fresh air
• Family and Friends
• Creative growth
• Stories, real and imagined
• Variety of experience
• Good eats
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Stories and characters, and what they mean to us. Images, music, and sounds --- how they feel to me and to others, and why. Whether or not I’m fulfilling my creative potential. What other people are doing right now. Cats and cat-adjacent topics.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Friday? What day is it right now? Out with friends for dinner/drinks, out seeing a show or in with a movie. Possibly cooking something delicious at home, going on a walk around my neighborhood (almost every day really), painting or working on a creative project of some kind because it brings me joy, or stuck late at work wishing I was doing one of those other things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I like to watch sports but I have no idea what they're doing out there, and I don't really care as long as there's a snack.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're creative (somehow) and art is important to you, and you want to talk about it or collaborate in some way. You want a camping buddy, or you want to be a camping buddy. You have goals and dreams that grow and change, and you're pursuing them. You like your life and want to share it with the right person.

If I visit your profile or rate you highly I'm probably interested in meeting you in person. I may be trying to gauge your interest before I take the time to write a more thoughtful message because that takes attention and time. Show me you're interested and I'll make the time. Or message me if you want to, maybe everything will go better than expected right?
