My self-summary
I live and work in the Philly suburbs, but spend as much time as possible at my family’s house in Wildwood. There is absolutely nothing better than sitting on the beach on a summer Saturday with a good book, and I’m always counting down to the start of the season. I have a big family, and I’m really close with them, so I love that they spend a lot of time with us at the shore as well.

I’m a pretty easy going person, and a good and loyal friend. I love going to concerts and sports games, volunteering, and traveling. I recently spent two weeks in Ireland and the UK and absolutely loved it. I’m hoping to go back to London soon, but Italy and Australia are bucket list trips.

I just finished grad school, so I’m trying to meet new people and try new things now that I have more free time.
What I’m doing with my life
I just finished my graduate degree in English, and I’m working full-time at a local nonprofit, which I absolutely love. I’m proud of what we do, and I have great coworkers, so I’m pretty lucky!

I also teach and tutor on the side. I’m trying to decide in what direction I’d like to move, whether I’ll stay long-term in the nonprofit sector, or if I’ll teach high school, or if I’ll get my PhD and become a professor.
I’m really good at
I think I have a quick wit and I can make people laugh, but I don’t really have any talent-show ready skills. I’m an English nerd. If I had to get up on stage and demonstrate a skill, I could knock out a pretty good paper, which would obviously be really exciting for the audience.
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, the first thing that people usually comment on is my height. I think at every stage in my life, I’ve always had someone call me “Shorty.”

But once people get to know me, I think they notice my intelligence and my sarcastic sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
TV: Parks and Rec, The West Wing, Friends, The Office (Michael Scott years only), How I Met Your Mother, Downton Abbey

Books: Gone with the Wind, Harry Potter, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, The Catcher in the Rye. I’ll just go by author for the rest: Jane Austen, David Sedaris, William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Willa Cather, Ernest Hemingway, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, John Steinbeck, Virginia Woolf.

Movies: I don’t really have many favorite movies. I’m definitely more of a TV person, and I’ve been told that I live in a cultural void for not having seen movies that everyone else in the world has seen. Maybe you can help fill in the gaps?

Music: John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Anna Nalick, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Brandi Carlile, Ingrid Michaelson, Florence + the Machine, Mumford & Sons, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Eric Hutchinson, Graham Colton, Michael Buble, Sugarland
The six things I could never do without
Family, friends, books, the beach…everything else I could learn to live without if I had to!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about what kind of person I want to be, both professionally and personally. I like to set goals, and to figure out how to make things happen for myself. I also spend a good amount of time thinking about what I believe and how I can live a life that is meaningful and consistent with my core values. I’m a politics junkie, and I love MSNBC.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends. Depending on which group I’m with, we’ll go to the bars, or we’ll do something more low key, like dinner, watching a movie, and just spending time together.
