I love to have fun and laugh, and I have an adventurous spirit. I'm also kind of a goofball (just ask my students!). I love life and really enjoy experiencing new things, and I live to see the beauty of the world around us (whether it is here on the central coast or elsewhere around the world).
I'm a very active person and have a deep wanderlust. I love to travel and explore new places. And I especially love being outdoors. Whether rock or ice climbing, trail running or hiking, or simply sitting quietly and taking in the views, I adore nature. One of my favorite places is the high mountains of the world (especially our own glorious Sierra Nevada range). Having the chance to climb and explore them is a real gift in my mind. But I also love to spend time relaxing. I love learning, reading, talking and thinking about all sorts of topics, being romantic and sensual, going to art shows, and watching a good movie. I've really gotten into photography over the last couple years (I'd be honored to have you check out my Instagram feed @ootnaboot); so, it's not uncommon to find me with my dSLR in hand. And I have recently started playing my guitar again and writing poetry. I love good food, but I live a generally healthy lifestyle (lots of fruits and veggies!). For work, I teach analytic philosophy at a California State University, and work part-time (when I feel like it) as a technical rock climbing and mountaineering guide in the Sierra Nevada, on Mt. Shasta and abroad.
I believe in being honest and treating others with kindness and respect. And I really believe in the importance of being a fair and open-minded person when engaging others. Mostly, I try to be a person who helps people and does no harm, and gives them a reason to smile.
I'm still new to dating after a long marriage. While I ultimately hope to find a woman with whom I can spend the rest of my life, right now I'm mainly hoping to find someone to spend time with, experiencing the world and see where it leads. I'm definitely open to it developing into a serious relationship, but want to let that happen organically.
Who is the kind of woman I'm looking to meet? She is someone who can be my best friend and my lover; someone who loves to laugh and enjoy life as much as I do; someone who is strong, independent, and able to stand on her own, but also chooses to be involved and intimate, sharing her life with a man who chooses the same. I prefer a woman who loves and spends time in the outdoors, but mostly I just want a woman wants to experience life, to travel and be my partner in crime. She does not necessarily have to be into climbing and mountaineering like I am (although if she is, that's a real plus), but she has an adventurous spirit and is willing to try and experience new things. I'm really attracted to a woman who is confident, yet reflective and self-aware. She has a good sense of who she is, but is someone who wants to continue to grow. She's also not afraid to express her thoughts and feelings, but she does so with the same kind of kindness, honesty, fair and open-mindedness that I try to live by.
