My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage -and- I promise you something great will come of it." A great quote that I try to live my life by...don't ponder, don't think about things to much just do it and don't be afraid of the consequences cause you never know where your choices will lead.
I'm a southern gentleman by way of Alabama and Maryland (sadly lost the accent along the way). Grew up a military brat and have lived in a bunch of states and cities but I love Colorado for the outdoor adventure it presents itself with but occasionally I do miss the ocean and fresh seafood. I'm a Terrapin (go ahead google it)!!!
I currently work full time as an EMT and part time in the restaurant world (one of them is supposedly keeping me sane). I'm not your typical M-F 8 to 5 sitting behind a desk kind of guy (did that after graduating college and while I loved working for the Smithsonian that type of life is not for me). But be it that I tend to wear many hats at my jobs. It can be stressful at times and having the ability to unwind helps a lot and while there may be times I question my sanity I would never change my friends/family that I have met through my jobs and the fun we had/have continually. Plus I could write a book on the stuff that happens in any restaurant or in the medical field, full of great funny stories.
Love listening to music where ever I may be, singing my head off and not caring what people think
Since I live in Colorado the obvious question is do I ski and/or snowboard...the answers is I use to ski but had a horrific accident a long time ago and haven't been back up (to ski, I still love the mountains in the winter time) but I'm getting the itch to now try my hand at snowboarding come this winter.
I'm a single dad with 2 of the most precocious you could ever meet kids (10 and 7) and a dog that i love dearly but looking for that something someone in life to meet again, have fun with, hang with, laugh with, make some great memories, to remind me that I'm human and to challenge me at times (if and when needed). I like to think I'm responsible and have my life in order but honestly at times I'm just a big kid who loves fun and throws caution to the wind.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to find that inner balance between my love for the outdoors (be it hiking, mountain biking, some grand adventure, camping, getting dirt under my fingernails) and my geeky/Star Wars/LOTR/Comic book movies/Lego lovin' side. Yeah, Yeah I'm nearly 40 and you read all that right. Those are my ying and yang...what can I say. They all keep my sanity in check. Somewhere in there too I'm trying to find that spark in my heart . Not saying I'm broken...just tend to be more cautious with my heart these days. But I still believe in love - yeah call me crazy - but hey we all are on this site looking for something, right?
I like to set challenges for myself, I ran a Tough Mudder and climbed a 14er last summer (both were some of the most amazing times I have had in the world) plus just saw my first concert at Red Rocks (O.A.R. who brought the place the down)...that's three things off the bucket list in one month!!
I enjoy working out, lifting, running, biking, yoga ( on the rare occasion), IBJF at Red Rocks (if you know what that is extra kuddos). Finding that next challenge in my life be it outdoors/indoors that people may say you're crazy for trying but gives you great satisfaction and an adrenaline rush.
Honestly spend a lot of time being the best dad I can be to my two youngligs and working but that doesn't mean I don't know how to make time for someone in my life.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I don't know I'm kind of a renaissance man in this regard...I love to cook and/or bake (pumpkin scones became my specialty this fall) cooking for people. And always get asked to bake stuff for occasions. When I had my house use to do a lot of home remodeling/renovation-wood work/trim, plumbing, electrical, painting, deck building. Teaching my kids new things in life so that they are well rounded individuals and don't need to rely on others for much. Having discussions about anything and sound like I know what I'm talking about. Cuddling (the ability to cuddle is a greatly desired trait). Being a hopeless romantic and gentleman towards ladies.
Being sarcastic...I'm really good at laughing, I love to laugh
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes...they are hazel but tend to change color a bit.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite movies: Stripes, Animal House, any gut busting comedy, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings...BTW love going to the drive in movies (a great summer night)
Favorite music: O.A.R., DMB, Springsteen, 50s rock-n-roll, The Gaslight Anthem, The Fray, Social Distortion...honestly I listen to about anything and everything, old school rap, hip-hop, blues, country (the upbeat stuff esp. in the summer time), crooners, but not a techno/dance music guy. My ipod, digital music library, Pandora/Slacker radio are a huge hodge podge of whatever you can imagine.
Favorite shows: Don't watch tv to much but when I do its S.O.A., Justified, Seinfeld, Chicago PD, West Wing, Northern Exposure, SNL, the Three Stooges, the web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (epically funny)
Favorite Food: don't have one, point me in the direction of any good restaurant and I'm game for whatever is on the menu (I do love 5280 restaurant week for that very reason) plus beers on a deck/patio/roof top are a bonus
Favorite Books: I read alot, esp. during the summer by the pool (I just got a Kindle and love exploring all the possibilities it offers), lots of magazines (SI, Food Netwook Mag, National Geographic) for books WWII history esp. in relation to art, anything by Anthony Bourdain (love his sarcasm and wit) or anything I may find interesting at the time when I'm at the library and Shel Silverstein (whose poems I love and read to my kids on the nights I have them).
Favorite Outdoors: Mountain biking, any hike anywhere in CO in any season, any body of water for fun, hiking be it in Boulder, Red Rocks, off some beaten path, going camping to be under the stars.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A kitchen
Dark Chocolate
My mountain bike
My kids/dog
Access to a smart phone/laptop
Bonus 7: Sarcasm and laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Mountain Biking, what I'm going to cook for dinner, what I want to listen to during my workouts, where I want to go take a hike at, the Zombie Apocalypse and where I would go. Beer or wine. Smelly candles in my apartment (don't knock it ladies). DIY projects/art inspired pieces and what body of water I want to sit by (be it pool, creek, lake, waterfall, etc.).
Next game to go to at Coors Field
What new ink i want to get and where to put it when I can find the time and money to add more.
What the hell the enemy rating means on this site...just plain weird, lol
What I want to accomplish in the near future for personal goals; climb another 14er (probably going to be Mt. Bierstadt), see another concert at Red Rocks, visit a new restaurant or two during 5280 week (joiners?), paddle boarding at Cherry Creek Reservoir, get up to Eagle/Vail to do some snowshoeing, take my kids horseback riding, and hiking the Manitou Incline down in the Springs and Devil's Head lookout tower.
Oh and since I'm an EMT, I do spend a lot of time thinking about medical stuff and people watching and what's wrong with them all, it's kind of like a game we play.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Honestly, it depends on my schedules...but a beer is always on the mind
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I hate games and drama. I don't mind chasing/pursuing a woman (I have a true gentelman/romantic side in this regard). If you aren't interested, just be honest...I dislike being lead on. Plus I have a small penchant for the music of Hootie and Train....ok, third thing, the Bible and I have some issues (you can blame being an art history major in college for that one) mainly how litterally people/churches/religions take it to tell them what is good and bad in this world, for me I have my soul and it works pretty well. Oh and lastly I have some Star Wars ink, my inner dorky child rearing it's head on something that has had a long lasting influence on me.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you want to hang out (dive bars and roof tops are always good), grab a cup of coffee, go take a hike or if you just want to be totally spontaneous and see what happens, all good with that choice too (but no movie theaters on a first date, that's just a no no). And you can stand the smell of mahogany and/or teak (I have a thing for certain candle smells). But if you plan on leaving your dog in your car when we meet up for a date, or even contemplate this move, don't even bother contacting me (and yes this has happened, and I bolted for dodge as soon as I found out)...Now if you read this entire profile woohoo!!!, it's a lot, granted, but I don't pull any punches and I know what I'm looking for/want out of a relationship (but surprises are always welcome)...besides always looking for a companion to go dumpster diving to help me locate my missing plans to take over the world. Oh and you're not embarrassed to sing Steve Miller songs when the mood strikes...
