My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer . . .
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!
(-Shel Silverstein)

About me...

I'm tall, laid back, and maybe a little reserved at first. If I'm comfortable and settled into my surroundings, then I can be very outgoing, and once you get me going-- especially about orchids or something I love-- I might never shut up, so be careful!

I have two kids that mean the world to me, and thankfully they spend a lot of time with me... this means not a lot of free time, but it also means hugs almost every morning, and a connection and love I never knew existed! If you have children you understand, if not I hope you discover the same joy and feelings for yourself somehow in your own life someday.

I grow orchids as a hobby/obsession and I am in the process of turning it into a career.

I am a big fan of personal growth and improvement, and have been reading, watching, and learning from Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Oprah (and her OWN network), etc.

I was born and raised in the Midwest(Indiana), but have been in South Carolina since coming down to study Chemistry and Marine Science at USC. Go Gamecocks!

I spent the majority of my working life so far in the music industry, doing about every job in the business (radio, retail, live, you name it!) at one point or another. Music is one of my passions no doubt.

I think I'm amazing! but that doesn't mean I'm selfish or conceited... I just think some self confidence is important. I mean if you can't or don't love yourself and think you're an amazing person, how can you expect anyone else to feel the same about you? That being said, I do know I am a work in progress. I'm always trying to make myself a better person. I'm an Eagle Scout and appreciate the foundation it taught me, even though I disagree with the current politics of the Boy Scouts of America.

I have answered an insane number of the questions in the questions section of the profile. My only hang up is that I believe life is full of shades of grey, not just black and white. That makes it hard to answer the questions with how I really feel, but then again that is why we should communicate more-- to learn about each other and see if we have a deeper(or any) connection. That is what I'd like to find first from this site-- people I can get to know a little bit to see if there is any real chemistry or potential, or just friendship before actually meeting in person. If there's some connection, then let's get together!

Lastly, let me say that I do most of this from my phone, so if I miss a spelling error or crazy auto-correct, forgive me. Especially on the questions. It drives me crazy not to be able to fix it for 24 hours, please don't hold it against me. Also if I message you, please respond wether interested or not, so I can know to move on if need be, it's just courtesy that should work both ways.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Making myself a better person each day, and chasing my dreams...Taking care of my kids, pets, and orchids...Getting excited about my future and all of the possibilities to come.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Everything! I just need some more practice in a few areas... ;-)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My height... 6'6", 6'7", 6'8" maybe... It doesn't matter that much to you once you reach 6'5"... At that point you're pretty much taller then everyone around you, and it gets a lot harder to measure...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books...
Anything to make me a better person, and that I can learn from... From the Dali Lhama and Deepak Chopra to Tony Robbins and Wayne Dyer...
Anything about orchids
Good fiction... From Science Fiction to techno-thriller, and anything with a good recommendation in between... Favorite authors include... Neil Gaimen, Tolkein, Steven King, Dan Brown, and many more... I just don't have (i.e. make) time to read as much as I would like...

Movies

I love movies, all movies, but if I'm by myself choosing, it will be a drama, sci-fi, action/adventure as a first choice. Horror and comedy get a back set to the others for sure. A lot of horror movies seem kinda like a waste of time, amusing yes, but I have too much I'd rather do. If I want to laugh, I'd rather do it with friends, it's more fun that way.

TV

Varies a lot, but not a lot of reality tv-- no desperate housewives or anything like that, blah! I like more science / discovery channel kinda stuff, others just depend on my mood and what I get into for that season.

Music

I love music! I listen to everything but gangsta rap, and death metal/hate rock... And only rarely want to hear opera, twangy old country, dance/techno, or show tunes...
My favorite bands/musicians...
Bruce Springsteen
Guster
James Blunt
Matchbox Twenty
Seven Mary Three
Coldplay
Hootie and the Blowfish ( hey, I went to school with them, a guilty pleasure)
30 seconds to mars
Social distortion
Edwin McCain
Train
Sister Hazel

Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

After that nothing else matters, everything physical is replaceable.
However, I will say I'm very found of and attached to...
My orchids
My iPhone, iPod, iPad, & MacBook... They work together very nicely, and help keep me organized, entertained, informed, and connected.
My Big Green Egg... If you don't know what it is, ask!
My music... I love music!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Friday night is no different from any other for me... Usually nothing more than taking care of my kids and trying to unwind from the day once I get them to bed. I usually fall asleep while trying to get things done, not even realizing I've done so. The result of burning the candle at both ends I suppose, but a good thing in my opinion!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I like to chew on little things, but usually not gum... Toothpick, straw, sunflower seeds, whatever... I guess it's a carry over from when I bit my nails as a kid... I started chewing on stuff to stop the nail biting, and never stopped...

You want to find out more about me! Kind of obvious I think, but in the spirit of the question, I think it's better answered in the opposite... (I am ever the nonconformist)

Don't contact me if...

You're a negative, pessimistic person... I don't want that in my life. Be realistic, but don't drag me down... I've dumped a lot of baggage and feel much better for it. I'm not trying to be around people that will suck the life from me.

You don't have a picture or are willing to share some right away, seems there are some people up to no good out there, and pics are a good way to filter them out. Of course there's also the fact that physical chemistry and attraction are a big part of any successful relationship, and how can I judge that if I can't see what you look like?

I don't care how old you are or where you are from, but the greater the distance or age difference, the harder it might be to make things work... just being a little practical... so feel free to drop a line regardless, can't hurt right?
