My self-summary
Hmmmm....SHORT PHRASE: farm girl in the city -- Athlete and couch potato in one -- Radio junkie, magazine reader (New Yorker), and random TV watcher.

I graduated college in June 2003, fought wildland fire for the final summer ever (did it for five years total) and gave it up and moved into a steady, year-round, (responsible) permanent job as an editor for a biotech trade magazine in Eugene...

Enjoy the job, for now. Get to travel lots- not always exciting places, but in 2007 I went to Puerto Rico, Paris, France, Boston, MA (twice), and San Diego, CA.

Seriously though, I play ultimate frisbee and enjoy other disk sports. I enjoy hiking in the local area and my biggest hobby is photography. I love going to beautiful places to take photos.

I have a cat, Dot, and she's a sweetie... she has two kittens that I let her keep, Denali and Kenai (they're also sweet). I grew up on a farm with cows, goats, sheep, chickens, dogs and cats, so three pets is really a step down, but all I can afford right now (and really all I want to take care of at the moment).

I majored in Natural Resources Communications at the Oregon State U College of Forestry.... no, I don't talk to Trees.... I actually combined science and journalism, specifically macro-biology/ecosystem science/forestry and writing/editing/advertising/reporting/multimedia.

I also milk goats two days a week.... editing doesn't pay all the bills. And I've been stuck there for the last year and a half because my stepsister wanted to work there but needed a ride, and then my MOM decided to work there and really actually needs the income but likes working with me, so guilt is keeping me there...

I am caring, driven, and logical
What I’m doing with my life
Editing, and by this point I should have earned a Master's degree in the topic.

During my "free time" I'm working at the goat farm. I also try to spend as much time as I can with friends. My boyfriend and I got a community garden plot and worked that this summer... then I canned pecks of pickled peppers, cucumbers, and green beans. I also have taken up quilting and have completed three baby quilts this year (with tons of detail), and am working on some decorative wall-hangings.

I also started baking bread last year as part of my South Beach diet endeavors. And I work out at least three days a week at my local [Gold's Gym].
I’m really good at
Cooking, gardening, and fixing small things and putting things together. I suppose I'm good at writing or I wouldn't have the job I do, but I don't write fiction (at least not yet) and I don't have any ambition to get a book published.
The first things people usually notice about me
How outgoing and confident I am?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
a) Fire at Eden's Gate, very interesting non-fiction biography; The Last Picture Show, All My Friends Are Going to Be Strangers (and all other McMurtry besides the Lonesome Dove series); Lake Wobegon Days and WLT: A Radio Romance (Garrison makes me smile); Me Talk Pretty One Day and Naked (David Sedaris is awesome!); Anything and everything Steinbeck; God of Small Things; and anything EL Doctorow....

b) I don't see too many movies (too broke), but I liked Pirates of the Carribean, Lost in Translation, Return of the King.

c) Not very important part of my life but I'll be honest here - make fun of me at will... Dido, McLaughlin, McKennitt, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Counting Crows, and anything on the radio except for country and rap....

d) I love greek food... pass the Feta! Also Indian (chicken tikki masala and korma are my favorites here) you can't go wrong with Nan.... big pasta (especially seafood alfredo) eater... sushi is good in doses... thai, vietnamese, some chinese, and mexican are also good occasionally. I'm not a picky eater by any means, but I prefer spicy and salty to sweet or sour.

The six things I could never do without
A bra, socks, hooded sweatshirt, family, food, camera....
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'm going to make for dinner... honestly, I think about this... how I'm going to pay my bills... my friends and their myriad of problems... my relationship with myself and others... work- but I really don't want to think about it... silly things like politics, war, peace, pollution, forests, people and what what drives them to do what they do, future goals, etc.
On a typical Friday night I am
It depends on my mood and what I've got to do the next day!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Lots of things. I'm pretty open about EVERYTHING.... so just ask and I'll tell you. Honesty and truth are of high value to me.
