My self-summary
I'm a mid-thirties single dude who has found a mostly satisfying job, and is now trying to figure out the rest of it. I'm usually quiet and reserved at first glance, but I'm an unabashed goofball at heart. I have a great family and am enamored with my niece and nephew. As a transplanted east coaster, I do not have nearly enough time with them, but when I see them, I do my very best to make them laugh until all of our sides hurt. I love experiencing new things and traveling as time allows. I don't mind doing things by myself, but I'm at the point where I want to make new friends and share those experiences with someone else.
What I’m doing with my life
Working and trying to figure out what my future holds. By day, I am a software developer working in the financial sector. When I'm not working, I love riding my motorcycle and taking my car to the track, reading, cooking, listening to music, and watching movies.
I’m really good at
Cooking; reading books about the mysteries of the universe that are way beyond my comprehension; being an uncle; road trips; rolling with the punches; composing videos of vacations and adventures.
The first things people usually notice about me
The first time someone meets me, the first thing they probably notice is that I am quiet, bordering on shy. Once I get to know you a little, however, people see me as affable, mischievous, and just a little bit nerdy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - easier to list authors and subjects than specific books…Neal Stephenson; Stephen King; Brian Cox; Justin Cronin; Richard Feynman; Anthony Bourdain; Herman Hesse; Michael Ruhlman.

Movies - Star Wars; Memento (almost anything Christopher Nolan, really); The Artist; Sunshine; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Elf; Big Lebowski; Eulogy; M. Night when he was still surprising; Vanilla Sky.

TV - Top Gear; The Walking Dead; Dexter; Top Chef; Arrested Development.

Music - classic rock; modern rock; hard rock; some indie; rap; techno. Top five concerts are Radiohead, the Flaming Lips, Underworld, Tool, and Alice in Chains.

Food - BBQ, Vietnamese, a great burger, eh, who am I kidding, I like it all, and love trying new things.
The six things I could never do without
The humble coffee bean. Music. My Kindle. An open twisty road. A great kitchen knife. A quality camera.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How my life is different than I thought it'd be, not better/worse, just not what I expected. Whether my job is more than just satisfying; whether it is fulfilling. What I would do if I walked away from it. What's for dinner. When I am going to plan my next trip and where it will be. How much I would like to see what the world will be like a hundred, a thousand years from our own amazing time.
On a typical Friday night I am
Finding a way to leave work behind me. Sometimes some guys from work go out for a happy hour, but usually I will find something delicious to cook for myself, watch a little TV or a movie, read, go for a ride if the weather is awesome, or grab a beer or bourbon, put some vinyl on the turntable, kill the lights, and sit in an awesome chair.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I find myself talking out loud to no one in particular. When I realize I'm doing it, I'll usually just keep talking even though I feel ridiculous.
You should message me if
…you are a woman who is open, authentic, and doesn't know how to take yourself too seriously
…want to talk to someone that doesn't take himself too seriously
…like a guy that will cook you dinner, or better yet, cook dinner with you
…don't mind that it's been many moons since I've had to figure this dating stuff out
…want to meet someone new, no stress, but when you find someone important to you, you're ready to jump in
