Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
All right, get the map out and play the Indiana Jones theme: here
is my moving red line. I was born in Hong Kong but grew up in San
Diego. I lived the Berkeley lifestyle for a few years and moved to
Columbia, Missouri for grad school. I'm apparently culture
shock-proof (go anthropology!) so the move went well, but after a
while I decided it was time for the line to move again.
I got my doctorate in anthropology in 2011, made my triumphant
return to San Diego in August of this year, and now I'm working as
an online instructor while keeping an eye out for possible

What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm aiming to become a bioarchaeologist, an archaeologist that
specializes in human remains. My research takes me to Peru, which
is a fantastic place everyone should visit.
I really like to teach since I want to show students that
anthropology is rad. If more people knew anthropology, people
wouldn't say crazy things about how race is naturally this or that.
They're artificial categories mapped onto arbitrary continuous
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I like to think of myself as a Kitchen-aid mixer: I'm reliable,
super low maintenance, and I will destroy whatever you hand me.
Ok, how about coming up with ideas, giving presentations,
non-sequiturs, eye lasers, handling crises, editing, moral support,
Bond one-liners, vigilante therapy, dry humor, cat-whispering,

Maybe I'm saying something hilarious. Maybe I'm trying not to laugh
out loud at something I'm reading while in a coffee shop.

Books: The Great Gatsby is my favorite book because it
takes prose and compresses it into an angry diamond that gleams at
Movies: All-time favorite is Ran, because it's filled with
drama, spectacle, and the furthest thing from a Hollywood ending
that one can achieve. I also enjoy earlier Spielberg and action
with some thematic cohesion.
Television is too unimportant for me to adhere to its schedule,
Things I've Recently Enjoyed Watching On the Internet:
Warehouse 13, Sherlock, Hoarders, My
Cat from Hell, 30 Rock, Louie, The
Music: Classic rock, west coast rap, and singer-songwriter are the
main genres. Yeah, my mix CDs/Pandora stations can get a bit crazy.
I used to dislike 80's music but now I can't get away.
Food: Hall of famers are pesto sauce, chili, tamales, and my
parents' cooking. Will try anything as a professionally trained
anthropologist. I'm not a fan of bananas, but I enjoyed fried
plantains in Perú. I'm not sure where my potassium comes from.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
• Warm covers on a cold night
• Bad cats
• A hand to hold
• Early morning fog
• A nice breeze at the right time
• Furtive looks
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
... the prehistoric Andes, ideas for running an effective
classroom, my comic characters and their stories, whether I can
recall the chord progressions I've tried to learn (C... Am.... ....
effff! I can't get the third one).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Some combination of hanging out, grading things, archery, playing
guitar, drawing, and eating food.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

My friend told me that I hiccup like a cartoon character.

You're smart, confident, and easy-going. Just typing those words
